Manchester United bidder Sir Jim Ratcliffe‘s full net worth has been confirmed, with the front runner richer than ever.

Ratcliffe has been named second on the UK rich list, making him wealthier than he has ever been. An estimated near £30bn fortune which he plans to add to with the acquisition of Manchester United.

The Guardian revealed the sheer numbers behind the billionaires fortune , which has climbed 27 places in the list. This figure includes all of his assets such as his Ligue Un club OGC Nice.

This comes as an encouraging sign for United fans, given he is the current favourite to win the bidding war. His bid while allowing the Glazers to remain, will give him the majority. With a view to removing the Glazers altogether in a few years.

The latest on the takeover

With this recent confirmation of Ratcliffe’s soaring chemical empire, he will be extremely confident of securing the purchase of the majority of Manchester United Football Club.

It was reported earlier this week though that his contender, Sheikh Jassim had lodged a new and improved bid. This was expected to be around £5.5bn all in. With debt clearance and pledged investment included in the fee.

This is just the latest in what has been a ridiculous and dragged out soap opera conducted by the Glazer family. This prompted Sky Sports’ Kaveh Solkehol to plead with the Glazers to do right by the club and accept an offer.

No matter who becomes the club’s new owner, United fans are desperate for a conclusion. With the transfer market a mere few weeks away, sooner the better. With Erik ten Hag likely desperate to have it concluded so he can get on with signing players.

Good news however comes as David Ornstein has told FIVE that a conclusion is not far off.
