There is a new twist with the Manchester United takeover after it emerged PSG owner Nasser Al-Khelaifi is acting in an advisory capacity for Sheikh Jassim.
The Athletic report Al-Khelaifi has, “been contacted by the Glazers in an attempt to persuade Sheikh Jassim to increase his bid.”
Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al Thani has now submitted five offers for Manchester United.
The most recent one was lodged earlier this week. It was said by The Mail to be the final one, as he is no longer will to negotiate further after today – although his bid will remain on the table.

Nasser Al-Khelaifi role in Manchester United takeover
Nasser Al-Khelaifi’s representatives “are very clear his role is purely advisory,” report The Athletic.
The report goes on to add: “His involvement in the United talks, even in an advisory capacity, has caused eyebrows to be raised elsewhere in the Premier League.”
Sheikh Jassim is competing against British billionaire Sir Jim Ratcliffe, owner of French side Nice.
When the topic of a Qatari bidder for Manchester United was first raised, there was speculation Al-Khelaifi’s QSI could be involved.
Sheikh Jassim has been insistent his bid is privately funded, via his Nine Two Foundation.
Manchester United and PSG being owned by the same group would cause headaches for UEFA, while the European press has separately reported fears at PSG that they could become discarded should the group turn to Manchester United.
There were some peculiar Instagram posts from Kylian Mbappe earlier this year which translated to ‘being on Manchester United’s team’, adding further mystery to the situation.
What nobody quite knows, is what the Glazers are thinking, and whether they will sell at all.
It’s clear they want to land a gargantuan price for Manchester United, and looks like they are trying to play the bidders against each other. But there remains question over whether they will actually sell up at all.
The whole situation has just become even more cloudier, as if that were even possible.
