Tyrell Malacia completed his move to Manchester United back in the summer of 2022 with the Dutch left-back completing a move to Old Trafford and becoming one of Erik ten Hag’s 22 signings at Manchester United.

Who is Tyrell Malacia?
Tyrell Johannes Chicco Malacia was born on the 17th of August 1999 in Rotterdam, Netherlands.
Malacia joined Feyenoord’s youth system at the age of nine. He made his professional debut for the club in December 2017 and won the KNVB Cup in 2018.
His spell at Feyenoord was certainly a successful one as he was named in the UEFA Conference League team of the season in 2022. From there, he would complete a move to the Premier League in the summer of 2022.

The question has of course been just where is the Dutch defender. Malacia suffered an injury problem for United prior to the US tour and concerns were raised about a long-term absence.
Little was known about Malacia’s absence up until January 2024. Ten Hag said Malacia was ‘weeks away’ from a United return yet the Dutchman did not make a single appearance for the club during that campaign.
In July, Malacia returned to Carrington to begin individual training and it now appears the Dutchman is finally on his way back.

Malacia currently has a knee problem but there is no detail about what that injury is. There has also never been a set timescale for when he will return with the club keeping it purposely vague.
However, it does seem that Malacia is finally inching his way back into the fold and could well make his long-awaited return sooner rather than later.
