Aaron Wan-Bissaka made his long-awaited return to the Manchester United first team on Saturday as he started at right-back against Fulham at Craven Cottage.
Erik ten Hag has been without his first-choice right-back since early September after Aaron Wan Bissaka suffered a hamstring injury.
Now, the former Crystal Palace man is back and he has already shown the Dutchman what he has been missing, with a superb performance against Marco Silva’s side.
With a big few weeks coming up for Manchester United, the return of the 25-year-old defender is a huge boost for Ten Hag.

Wan-Bissaka’s impact
Against Fulham, Wan-Bissaka completed 66 per cent of his ground duels, won two tackles and completed two clearances, and it was also noticeable how the Englishman’s positioning was much improved.
The right-back’s return is a massive boost for the Red Devils as the Englishman was arguably the club’s most improved player last season, and his defensive capabilities make him a starter in the team.
United kept just their third clean sheet of the Premier League season on Saturday, and was also down to Harry Maguire, who was described as ‘majestic’ by Peter Schmeichel, but Wan-Bissaka was just as important, and was also picked out for praise on MUTV.
With games coming up against some of the bigger teams in the league, the right-back being fully fit for this run of matches is crucial.
Wan-Bissaka’s improvement
The Red Devils look much better defensively when the former Palace defender plays and he has come on leaps and bounds in his attacking play, too.
The defender, for example, completed 84 per cent of his passes against the Cottagers and linked play very well from that right-hand side.
With Antony’s struggles, the defender took it upon himself to push forward against Newcastle United and looked dangerous.
With games coming against Chelsea, Newcastle, Aston Villa and Liverpool in December, the defender, who has seen his contract negotiations stall, will be a crucial player for the Red Devils if they are to win these games.
The right-back will be coming up against some of the best wingers in the league and you wouldn’t bet against him shutting down each and every one he comes up against.
