Harry Amass is tipped as one of Old Trafford’s most exciting prospects and Manchester United managers, both past and present, have had a lot to say about him.
The 19-year-old English left-back has made seven appearances for the Manchester United first team since his emergence from the Red Devils’ youth academy.
However, a report from The Athletic on Tuesday has suggested that United could be prepared to sell Harry Amass for a permanent transfer of only £6m this summer.
With Amass’ long-term future at Old Trafford now being uncertain, here is what the likes of Erik ten Hag, Ruben Amorim and Michael Carrick have said about him.

According to The Athletic, Man United are ready to sell Harry Amass this summer for as little as £6 million!
1. Erik ten Hag (2022-2024)
Harry Amass made his senior debut in the Premier League under former Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim during the 2024-25 campaign.
Before Amorim had arrived at Old Trafford from Sporting CP in 2024, Erik ten Hag had tipped Amass to follow in the footsteps of Kobbie Mainoo by breaking into the first team.
“He is not that far along now [as Mainoo was] at this moment, but if we train him well, if we coach him well, then in three months it’s possible that he can be at that point,” Ten Hag said, as per The Guardian in 2024.
“But in this moment he needs to catch up and he has to develop some of the skills needed to play for Manchester United, when we are competing for the highest position in the league.
“But with big talent it can go very quickly and it is very interesting to see if he is capable of doing this.”

2. Ruben Amorim (2024-2026)
Amorim might have handed Amass a Premier League opportunity after Ten Hag was sacked as Man Utd manager, but the full-back was loaned out during his spell as well.
Amass was at Sheffield Wednesday during the 2025-26 campaign and the Man Utd youth academy product received stinging criticism from former Red Devils boss Amorim.
“I don’t know what is going to be the future [for Kobbie Mainoo]. Let’s see after this match,” he said, as per Sky Sports in 2025.
“Amass is now struggling in the Championship. Chido [Obi] is not always a starter in the U21s.
“All these guys played when a lot of people were saying sack the manager!”
3. Michael Carrick (2026 — present)
While Michael Carrick did not specifically namecheck Amass, the Man Utd talent was part of the “younger players” who received praise from him this summer.
“The younger players coming on, I thought they were fantastic and played as a team and deserved what they got,” he told MUTV after Man Utd’s 5-0 demolition of Rosenborg.
“I thought there were a lot of good things. Some of the goals were fantastic and [it is] just as pleasing to keep a clean sheet. We’re moving forward nicely.”
Amass climbed off the bench after half-time and the Red Devils defender netted in United’s encounter with Rosenborg at the Lerkendal Stadion in Norway last week.
