Manchester United are in the market for a new left-back this summer as the club reportedly remain concerned about the fitness of Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia.
Last season for Manchester United, Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia had a plethora of injury problems for the Red Devils which led the club to sign Tottenham left-back Sergio Reguilon on loan.
Shaw’s injury issues have been well documented with the Englishman missing over 200 games for the Red Devils and a new full-back looks to be on the agenda.
United have been linked with a plethora of left-back options, these include bringing back Reguilon to the club on loan following his spell at Brentford.
However, whilst this option may not be a bad one to integrate into the team with Reguilon consistently posting messages of support to the United players, here are three alternatives for the Red Devils.

Milos Kerkez – Bournemouth
Hungarian left-back Milos Kerkez is the first name on the list but he may well be the most expensive name for the Red Devils.
Kerkez had an outstanding season under Andoni Iraola for Bournemouth with the pacey defender featuring in 28 Premier League games for the club and providing one assist.
According to FBREF, it is the defensive side of the game that Kerkez excels at and he could be a good fit.
Kerkez, 20 has been linked to United before with Fabrizio Romano claiming the Red Devils were keen on the Bournemouth left-back.
A deal for Kerkez may require some key sales but he should be an option.
Miguel Gutierrez – Girona
Next up on the list is Spanish left-back Miguel Gutierrez, who was formerly part of Real Madrid’s side before being allowed to join Girona, who overperformed hugely in La Liga last season.
Part of that overperformance was down to Gutierrez with the Spanish left-back featuring in 35 La Liga games for the club, scoring twice and assisting seven times.
Unlike Kerkez, Gutierrez, 22, excels in the attacking part of the game with the Spaniard excelling at progressive carries, expected assists and pass completion rate, as per FBREF.
Similar to Shaw, Gutierrez seems to love getting forward and he could well be an interesting option for the Red Devils.
United have been linked with a move for Gutierrez before with the Spaniard able to add a brilliant edge to the the Red Devils team that the club lack.
The Athletic’s Thom Harris labelled the full-back as ‘brilliant‘ mainly due to his versatility and that could be a welcome option for the Red Devils.
Gutierrez reportedly has a £30 million release clause in his contract but Real Madrid have a buyback clause for just £7 million, so a deal may be difficult.
Aaron Hickey – Brentford
Last on this list is another Premier League left-back in Scotsman Aaron Hickey, who had a promising season at Thomas Frank’s Brentford.
Formerly of Bologna, Hickey made the move to Brentford back in the summer of 2022 and has already proven himself to be a reliable performer.
United were linked with Hickey during his days in Italy but never made a move, the time may be right to pull the trigger.
He made 26 appearances in the Premier League during the 2022/23 season but just 9 appearances last campaign due to injuries.
United have still been linked with the Scotsman as they aim to beat competition from Manchester City for Hickey
Whilst signing another injury prone left-back, his ability on the ball and his defensive work rate make him an interesting option.
At just 22 years of age, like the other options, he’d have room to develop and grow at Old Trafford.
