Manchester United could make a move for Bournemouth sensation Antoine Semenyo in the January transfer window.
The January transfer window is fast approaching, and Manchester United will inevitably be linked with multiple targets.
Ruben Amorim is expected to strengthen the midfield department in 2026. However, recent reports suggest that plans may change in January to ensure that United don’t miss out on Bournemouth talisman Antoine Semenyo.
It’s perhaps the biggest transfer news story in the Premier League right now, with The Athletic’s David Ornstein claiming Semenyo has a £65 million release clause despite signing a new deal this past summer.
The report adds that the sum must be triggered by a specific date, and signing Semenyo may prove to be too good an opportunity for United to turn down.
Semenyo already has six goals and three assists to his name in the Premier League this season. The Ghana international’s versatility could prove as useful as his ability to win football matches at Old Trafford.

Opinion: Three roles Antoine Semenyo could play at Man Utd
Versatility is a strength for Semenyo, which makes him similar to some of United’s attacking signings in the summer.
The 25-year-old can play in any position in the forward line, and though a natural right winger, he has almost as frequently played on the left for Bournemouth.
Semenyo would give Amorim another option at left wing-back, where he currently plays Patrick Dorgu or Diogo Dalot. It is an area that Amorim should consider bolstering in the new year, with Diego Leon not yet ready to push for a place in the team.
Amorim could also utilise Semenyo as one of the number 10 roles in his preferred 3-4-2-1 formation. His pace and ability on the ball would prove to be an asset alongside Bryan Mbeumo or Matheus Cunha.
Another role that Semenyo could play, ultimately making United a more flexible unit in attack, is a striker.
Bournemouth have been able to rely on Semenyo to become their talisman following Dominic Solanke’s exit in 2024, but replacing the lethal attacker mid-season will be a difficult task for the Cherries.
Antoine Semenyo unbeaten against Man Utd
Semenyo has played against United three times in the Premier League, but he did not suffer defeat in any of those matches.
Bournemouth won two of those matches, drawing one, and the forward scored two goals against the Red Devils in as many games last term.
Who should start as striker for Man Utd with Benjamin Sesko injured?
It is understood that many Premier League clubs are considering a move for Semenyo, including Liverpool, Man City and Tottenham.
Semenyo’s form warrants significant interest because he is a match-winner.
