Sir Jim Ratcliffe and Ineos’ handling of four players in the summer is now paying dividends (not in the literal sense) for Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim.

Ruben Amorim was provided with five new signings in the summer, with Manchester United reinforcing key first-team squad positions on the pitch at Old Trafford.

The 40-year-old United manager saw a boost to his forward options with the arrivals of Matheus Cunha in June, Bryan Mbeumo in July and Benjamin Sesko in August.

United also invested in the long term under Ineos and Sir Jim Ratcliffe and the Red Devils were finally able to announce the signing of wonderkid Diego Leon.

Ineos signed off the Premier League club’s hefty summer spending spree with the arrival of Belgian shot-stopper Senne Lammens on deadline day in September.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe and Ineos’ acquisition of Bryan Mbeumo shows Man Utd finally took the right approach with transfers

Bryan Mbeumo inked a deal with Manchester United in July after the Red Devils’ hotly anticipated pursuit for the Cameroon international finally came to an end.

United had two bids rejected for Mbeumo before Brentford allowed the 26-year-old French-born attacker to leave the Gtech Community Stadium in a £71m deal.

The Red Devils paid an initial fee of £65m for the former Brentford star and Mbeumo has already been a standout performer at Old Trafford in the 2025-26 campaign.

Mbeumo showed his all-important influence for Ruben Amorim with his stunning brace in United’s 4-2 Premier League win over Brighton at Old Trafford on Saturday.

The Cameroon and United winger has already netted five times and registered an assist in his opening 10 matches for the Red Devils across all competitions.

Bryan Mbeumo’s presence at Man Utd shows Sir Jim Ratcliffe and Ineos addressed a past issue at Old Trafford

Mbeumo has slotted into Amorim’s tactical system for United and the former Brentford forward has become a key player for the right-sided No 10 role.

However, Mbeumo’s immediate impact at United has shown the past issues that the Red Devils have had to endure with the right winger position at Old Trafford.

Erik ten Hag had several different options for the role on the right during his time as United manager, including Antony, Jadon Sancho and Alejandro Garnacho.

However, the Red Devils’ right wing never felt consistent with Antony and Jadon Sancho in the role, as well as Alejandro Garnacho sporadically playing there.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe and Ineos made the perfect call to offload the aforementioned trio from Old Trafford, whether it was through a loan deal or a full sale, in the summer.

Amad Diallo had started to challenge for the right wing since his emergence, but the Ivorian winger showed he can still have a role to play alongside Mbeumo at the club.
