Ruben Amorim has reportedly been tipped for a reunion with one first-team Manchester United player after his return to management with Serie A side AC Milan.

The 41-year-old ex-Manchester United manager made his return to the dugout in June after he replaced Massimiliano Allegri at the San Siro at the end of last season.

Ruben Amorim, who was axed from the Red Devils back in January, will already cross paths with United again during the Premier League club’s pre-season tour.

Man Utd will travel to Wroclaw for the final match of their pre-season campaign on 15th August and will face AC Milan at the Wroclaw Stadium in Poland.

Forget the Man Utd match in August, Ruben Amorim and AC Milan are linked with Noussair Mazraoui

Ahead of August’s pre-season match, it remains to be seen which colours Noussair Mazraoui will be wearing during the Manchester United and AC Milan encounter.

Journalist Matteo Moretto, speaking on the YouTube channel ‘Fabrizio Romano in Italiano,’ has now reported on Milan’s transfer interest in United star Mazraoui.

He has revealed that Mazraoui, who has been away at the World Cup with Morocco, has been deemed “one of Amorim’s favourites” amid Milan’s summer business.

Matteo Moretto has claimed that no direct contact or negotiations have started between United and Milan for the 28-year-old Dutch-born defender.

However, Ruben Amorim has very much provided his ‘stamp of authority’ for Milan to try and lure Morocco and United player Mazraoui away from Old Trafford.

“But what I can tell you is that certainly Mazraoui, who is 28 years old and also has a contract expiring in 2028 with an option, is a player highly regarded by Amorim,” Moretto explained.

“Let’s see if he is targeted by Milan later in the window. As of today, I’m talking about the manager’s approval of him – Amorim appreciates Mazraoui’s qualities.”

Noussair Mazraoui’s versatility makes him perfect for Ruben Amorim’s return to management with AC Milan

Mazraoui made sporadic appearances under Michael Carrick last season after starting in five of his 11 Premier League matches under the United boss.

The former Ajax and Bayern Munich star impressed under Amorim at Old Trafford and had the proficiency to play in the Milan boss’ polarising tactical system.

Whether as a centre-back in a three-man backline or as a wing-back, Mazraoui possesses the qualities that Amorim would want in a player for his tactical approach.

Irrespective of Mazraoui’s abilities on the pitch, United also face a big question on whether to cash in on the Morocco international this summer.

Mazraoui is under contract at Old Trafford until 2028 and Milan’s interest this summer could be the perfect opportunity for the Red Devils to offload him.
