Ruben Amorim outclassed Arne Slot as Manchester United beat reigning champions Liverpool at Anfield.
After nine years without a win at Anfield, Manchester United beat Liverpool 2-1 with a brilliant performance on Merseyside.
Harry Maguire and Bryan Mbeumo scored for the Red Devils either side of Cody Gakpo’s goal for the hosts.
It was the first time since his appointment that Ruben Amorim has won back-to-back games in the Premier League, and he did it by beating United’s biggest rivals on their own turf.
Before a ball was even kicked at Anfield, he had the advantage over Arne Slot.

Ruben Amorim caught Arne Slot by surprise
Amorim remains unbeaten against Liverpool as United boss after building on last season’s 2-2 draw.
Amorim has been heavily backed by United’s leadership, and he showed exactly why at Anfield with an impressive tactical display.
But it seems Amorim was already in Slot’s head before kick-off after catching the Liverpool boss off guard with his team selection.
Speaking before kick-off to Sky Sports, Slot said: “We’ve seen Sesko play the last three, four five or six times, but they go to Liverpool they change the line-up.
“That’s not the first where we’ve faced a team and they’ve done that.”
Slot appeared frustrated that United had changed their line-up, with Amorim raising a few eyebrows by dropping Benjamin Sesko off the back of two goals in two games. Within two minutes of kick-off, United had taken the lead through Mbeumo with Liverpool unsure how to handle Amorim’s attacking three.
Ruben Amorim explains why Benjamin Sesko was dropped
Given that Sesko was superb against Sunderland, it was surprising to see him left out of the starting line-up at Anfield.
But Amorim’s decision paid off, with Matheus Cunha, Mbeumo and Mason Mount putting on a brilliant attacking display against a confused Liverpool backline.
When asked why Sesko was dropped, Amorim explained: “Cunha has one characteristic that can help the team move forward.
“Konate and Van Dijk like confrontation in the air, so that gives us different things to help us win the game.
