Michael Carrick has been chosen as the person to take Man Utd forward permanently, and he’s made a claim in stark contrast to Ruben Amorim about the squad.
There aren’t many things that Ruben Amorim got right at Man Utd by the end of his time here, and Michael Carrick has shown exactly how wrong his predecessor was.
However, Amorim was right in some cases, like his treatment of Alejandro Garnacho or Marcus Rashford.
Still, Carrick has just reaffirmed his exact opposite stance on the Man Utd squad compared to what Amorim thought.

Michael Carrick ‘surprised’ by Man Utd squad
Carrick is basically calmness and composure personified, but even he was caught off guard by the squad when he arrived.
Contrary to most sackings in football, Carrick actually took over a dressing room that was reeling from the departure of their manager.
The players hadn’t given up on Amorim until the very end, even if the results suggested otherwise, so his “new manager bounce” wasn’t simply vibes.
What Carrick did know, however, is that this squad is way better than it was showing under Amorim’s system.
Still, he was surprised by just how good this team actually was, especially since this group of players was brutally criticised under Amorim.
He said: “Probably surprised by how good a group it is in terms of wanting to do well for each other. We’ve been part of all sorts of different dressing rooms, and it can quite easily go in different directions.
“So probably the biggest thing that I felt straight away was that they are really in it together and they want to do well, listen, and learn.
“That’s the thing that stands out and gives us the biggest chance of being consistent.”
Carrick’s stance is exact opposite of Ruben Amorim’s
If Carrick is pleasantly surprised by the team’s quality, Amorim was in the exact opposite boat.
What position would Man Utd be in NOW if Ruben Amorim was still head coach?
Let's hear your views!!!
He came on strong in his introductory press conference, trying to create a siege mentality by backing his players.
By the end, he was telling everybody who would listen that the squad which he had inherited wasn’t good enough, almost prompting Jason Wilcox to calm him down.
Reports emerged that Amorim had told the dressing room that none of them were good enough, and he would replace everyone.
Needless to say, that’s not how a good manager works, and Carrick has just exposed how flawed that stance was by Amorim.
He has proven that the squad was more than good enough. It’s just that the man tasked with helping them find those levels was out of his depth.
