Manchester United’s three ‘most improved’ players of 2023

There have been some quality performers for Manchester United throughout the calendar year of 2023.

Erik ten Hag and his coaching staff have had the privilege of seeing a plethora of players feature at Old Trafford since the 1st of January.

Naturally, there have been some start performers, and some absolute stinkers – but which players have come on the most at Manchester United over the last 365 days?

Here are Manchester United’s three ‘most improved’ players of 2023.

Harry Maguire

Harry Maguire was a player who was down and out for Machester United back in January.

The England international had lost captaincy, fell out of favour in the first-team squad and looked destined to be sold in the summer. Thank the lord he didn’t.

Maguire has arguably been Manchester United’s best player this season. His solid performances at the back have earned him respect again among United fans and also meant he picked up the Premier League Player of the Month award for November.

He’s improved monumentally, and we hope he continues to go from strength to strength at Old Trafford.

Alejandro Garnacho

Alejandro Garnacho showed glimpses of brilliance at the beginning of the year, but by the end, he’s shown what he can do in a red shirt.

He’s already cemented Premier League legendary status at the age of just 19 thanks to THAT overhead kick, which is a Puskas Award contender.

But it wasn’t just a moment of brilliance that the Argentine finds himself on this list. He’s significantly improved in many aspects since emerging into the first-team squad.

The best part is? He’s only going to get better.

Scott McTominay

The apology needs to be as loud as the disrespect for Scott McTominay.

The academy product, much like Maguire, looked to be destined on his way out of Old Trafford, with the Scotsman confirming recently just how close he was to departing.

We’re extremely happy he didn’t. McTominay has come on leaps and bounds in Erik ten Hag‘s second season, cementing himself as a vital player and goalscorer in United’s setup.

Here’s hoping for a solid 2024 where these players just get better and better.
