Manchester United’s three best players in thrilling 4-3 win over Wolves

Manchester United overcame a Wolves resurgence to win a dramatic seven-goal thriller 4-3 on Thursday.

In a thrilling 4-3 Premier League classic fixture, Manchester United did it the hard way as they failed to capitalise on their first-half dominance.

Marcus Rashford opened the scoring before Rasmus Hojlund made it two in the second half as the game looked like a foregone conclusion.

Never making things look easy though United let Wolves back into it before Scott McTominay reestablished a two-goal advantage.

Wolves then scored two to bring the score back to 3-3. This wasn’t how the script ended, however, as the magical Kobbie Mainoo scored a divine winner in the 97th minute sending the away end into celebration.

With several impressive performers, here are United’s three best…

Rasmus Hojlund

The young Danish striker has well and truly arrived as a top-class striker in the Premier League. Scoring and assisting he played a vital role in the win.

Four goals and two assists in his last five games showcase just how excellent Hojlund has been now he’s adapted to the league.

A constant threat, he probably could’ve had more and caused chaos in the Wolves defence at times, including pressing Jose Sa into a few mistakes.

He looks the part right now under Erik ten Hag and there’s little chance he looks back as the goals continue.

Kobbie Mainoo

The second name we want to highlight is the 18-year-old that Gary Lineker has heralded as a ‘prodigious’ talent, Mainoo.

The midfielder is a true modern-day midfielder and has shown the levels of his game in recent weeks and demonstrated that he can do it all.

His goal was a piece of magic and to do that against a good side like Wolves takes so much composure, especially in those circumstances.

Mainoo is an absolute star in the making, in fact, he already is one.

Lisandro Martinez

One man whose contribution will probably be understated with the goal scorers grabbing the headlines is Lisandro Martinez.

The Argentine butcher is back and at his unbeatable best as he was constantly proving a problem for Wolves’ attackers.

His anticipation also prevented a sure goal as Andre Onana was in no man’s land as he came for a cross only to see Max Kilman head toward the target.

Martinez’s return is massive for United and expect things to only get better.
