Manchester United are losing a potential Bruno Fernandes successor, and they’ve done it before

It looks destined that Isak Hansen-Aarøen is set to leave Manchester United on a permanent deal on deadline day.

It is reported that the deal to take the Norwegian midfielder to the Bundesliga with Werder Bremen is progressing with there now being hope the transfer can be finalised shortly.

Manchester United’s academy star is yet to make a first-team appearance for the Red Devils, which has been somewhat baffling to fans given his undeniable talent, and the influx of debuts Erik ten Hag has gifted in recent weeks.

Now it looks like it will never happen, which could prove a future mistake.

Isak Hansen-Aarøen could’ve been Bruno Fernandes’ successor

Isak Hansen-Aarøen genuinely has the ability to become a fantastic player.

The creative midfielder plays his best football in advanced areas, operating behind the striker or in either half-space. The 19-year-old has such a creative edge, picking passes usually only he can see – which makes him part of that elite bracket of playmakers.

With his natural progression, it isn’t out of the realm of possibility to speculate the fact he could’ve been Bruno Fernandes‘ successor.

The Norwegian has been doing this consistently for years for the academy setup and it is such a shame that he may be leaving Carrington without having a single minute to prove himself.

It’s not the first time Manchester United have lost a budding attacking midfielder due to lack of game time at Old Trafford.

Angel Gomes repeat for Isak Hansen-Aarøen

This reminds us a lot of the Angel Gomes situation at Manchester United.

Gomes did make a few first-team appearances but ultimately left the Red Devils in search of game time in 2020, opting for a move to Ligue 1 where he has since absolutely thrived, albeit in a new position.

The proof is in the pudding for young, budding talents at Old Trafford – minutes are very much available elsewhere.

Hansen-Aarøen will follow in Gomes’ steps, and we think it could be a mistake given his undeniable talent. Time will tell.
