Day 12 of World Cup action brought plenty of storylines with it, and the Man Utd representation was strong again.
Lisandro Martinez was a part of a history-making game, as Lionel Messi’s brace in Argentina’s 2-0 win against Austria made him the highest goalscorer in World Cup history.
Martinez was impressive too, with the “butcher” name starting to get used for him again, and he did so at the cost of another ex-Man Utd star.
Here’s how every Man Utd star, past and present, fared on day 12 of World Cup action.

Which FORMER Man Utd player are you most intrigued to watch at the World Cup…?
There are more ex-United players at the tournament than current ones! 🌎
Lisandro Martinez – 9/10 (W vs Austria)
Martinez is loving life with Argentina after consecutive clean sheets and qualification for the knockout round.
The 2-0 win against Austria saw the best of Martinez again, as he marshalled the defence, played out from the back, and remained an emotional rock for his side.
With his partner Cristian Romero not in the best form, Martinez has arrived at the perfect time, and he was a star against Austria as well.
Marcel Sabitzer – 6/10 (L vs Argentina)
Marcel Sabitzer was at Man Utd for only six months, but he won a trophy during that time, and he now turns out for another former Man Utd manager, Ralf Rangnick, for Austria.
Sabitzer, who plays for Dortmund now, started on the left, as Rangnick was keen for his energy and legs to stifle Messi.
Who is Manchester United’s best manager since Sir Alex Ferguson?
It didn’t work much, and Sabitzer’s attacking instincts were also curbed in the process to sum up an average day out at the office.
Zidane Iqbal – 8/10 (L vs France)
Former Man Utd academy product and current Iraqi international, Zidane Iqbal can hold his head high despite his team’s 3-0 loss to France.
Iqbal started in midfield and looked the part against an elite side, finishing the game with 85 touches and creating one chance from 66 successful passes.
It was a complete midfield display for the player who now plays for FC Utrecht in the Netherlands. If he keeps up this level of play, he won’t be playing there for long.
