45 minutes changed Manchester United loanee’s season, his Old Trafford future is crumbling away

Manchester United have sent several players out on loan this season.

10 to be exact. This includes the likes of Jadon Sancho, Donny van de Beek, Joe Hugill and Hannibal Mejbri, who are all in different corners of Europe in a quest for game time away from Old Trafford.

Most are performing well, and more importantly, getting much-needed minutes on the clock which is vital if they are to come back to Manchester United.

‘Most’ is the keyword, with one individual, in particular, struggling to find game time even at Championship level.

Brandon Williams struggling for game time at Ipswich

Brandon Williams has fallen massively out of favour at Ipswich Town.

The loan spell started in disaster for the full-back. He scored an own goal just minutes into his debut. However, after this there was a significant upturn in form.

Ex-Manchester United coach Kieran Mckenna was starting Williams regularly, and he was impressing the Ipswich faithful. That is until around mid-December when 45 minutes changed his season.

Ipswich took on Watford on December 12th, with Williams starting as right-back. However, he was hoisted off after just 45 minutes, having a bit of a shocker against Ken Sema. Since then, he’s played just 63 minutes in the league.

His Old Trafford future now looks bleak

There’s no other way to put it other than in black and white. If Williams can’t get game time at Championship level, he will never make it for Manchester United.

The English full-back is now 23-years-old. He should be hitting that sweet spot now where he kicks on, but Mckenna’s lack of faith in him shows there is no future for him in Manchester.

He could have a sudden resurgence in 2024 which makes us think otherwise, but to be quite honest – even if this does happen, we can’t see him ever breaking through to the starting XI.

What’s next for Brandon Williams? Who knows. But we’re pretty certain it won’t be at United.
