Manchester United fans could find parallels with one all-important signing that Sir Alex Ferguson made compared to one new arrival at Old Trafford under Ruben Amorim.
Sir Alex Ferguson’s incredible legacy as Manchester United manager has been something that United fans have been nostalgic about since his retirement.
The 83-year-old iconic Scotsman has remained an ever-present figure at Old Trafford and is often a camera shot away from appearing on TV during matches.
However, United have been in a wilderness period in the post-Ferguson era at the club and the Red Devils’ dominance over English football finally came to an end.
The Red Devils have collected silverware since Ferguson’s retirement as United manager in 2013, but the Premier League title has since eluded the club.
Sir Jim Ratcliffe and Ineos are eager to restore United’s prestige and lead the Red Devils to their first Premier League trophy since the end of the 2012-13 campaign.

What Sir Alex Ferguson saw in David de Gea is important amid Man Utd’s decision to sign Senne Lammens
One of Sir Alex Ferguson’s major final signings was bringing club legend David de Gea to Old Trafford as the heir to Edwin van der Sar’s throne at Manchester United.
Edwin van der Sar called it time on his legendary playing career in 2011 and Ferguson entered the transfer market for a key long-term replacement.
David de Gea was making noise at Atletico Madrid after his emergence at the La Liga club and the United legend caught the eye of former Red Devils coach Eric Steele.
“Eric Steele had been scouting David de Gea for quite a while, but then [Manuel] Neuer came on the scene at Schalke,” Ferguson told Sky Sports, as per ESPN in 2016.
“And I think Schalke would have been happy if we’d have gone and taken him. So, my problem was Eric because he was adamant that we must take De Gea.
“I said, ‘Eric, the boy Neuer is the complete unit; he’s mature, his physique is unbelievable,’ and he says, ‘Yeah, but in three years’ time, De Gea will be better.’ I said, ‘That’s a statement.’
Eric Steele’s ringing endorsement of former Atletico Madrid shot-stopper De Gea turned out to be accurate when Ferguson saw three all-important qualities.
“Eric and I went out to watch him [De Gea] against Valencia away, and the things he’d been speaking about — his agility, his confidence, his speed — were evident,” Ferguson added.
Man Utd’s signing of Senne Lammens could mirror what Sir Alex Ferguson appreciated the most about David de Gea
Just as David de Gea proved to be the United heir to Edwin van der Sar, Senne Lammens could do the same when it comes to the Spaniard’s throne.
Andre Onana failed massively to live up to De Gea’s standards before the former United No 1 was shipped out on loan to Super Lig side Trabzonspor last month.
However, Senne Lammens’ arrival on deadline day in the summer and his recent run of form have left United fans excited for all of the right reasons.
Lammens has shown the confidence to command his own area and the 23-year-old has proven his early agility and speed with his reflex saves and coming off his line.
Even the United summer signing’s older brother, Tom, highlighted exactly why Lammens would be confident in the box, which was due to his imposing presence.
“As a player, he was always quite tall and strong for his age, and had a powerful shot,” he told The Athletic last month.
It’s early days for Lammens at United after only three appearances, but the Belgian shot-stopper does show shades of what Ferguson would look for in a Red Devils No 1.
