Man Utd ace will feel like a new signing in 2024, his career at Old Trafford begins now

Manchester United have had a few players who just haven’t hit the ground running at Old Trafford so far this season.

Among these players, include £60m signing – Mason Mount. The England international was acquired from Chelsea as Erik ten Hag‘s first signing of the summer, and number one target.

But so far, he’s only featured eight times for the Red Devils. Mount has also only started half of these, accumulating just 401 minutes on the pitch for Manchester United.

This has been down to some unfortunate injuries, but also because he genuinely wasn’t preferred by the Dutch manager. We think his fortunes will change in 2024.

Mason Mount is back for Manchester United

The 24-year-old midfielder was pictured at the Carrington Training Ground for the first time on Wednesday since a calf injury sustained in late November.

Mount will likely be unavailable for the Nottingham Forest game but should be in contention for some of United’s fixtures in January, providing the recovery continues to go well.

Mount will genuinely feel like a new signing for Manchester United. With just over 400 minutes under his belt, United fans have not even begun to see any of what Mount has to offer.

It was a worry that he wouldn’t fit into Ten Hag’s system, but with a drastically different first-team squad to what fans thought would start at the beginning of the season, we think he’ll work with one player, in particular, next to him.

Kobbie Mainoo will greatly benefit Mason Mount

In the Aston Villa fixture, Kobbie Mainoo played a single pivot against arguably one of the Premier League’s best midfielders in Douglas Luiz – and simply bossed it.

He allowed Christian Eriksen and Bruno Fernandes to take up the positions they wanted to be in, which is a stark contrast to when Mount was actually in the side.

Mount was deployed often in a disjointed midfield which lacked any sort of balance – which Mainoo now provides.

Mount will likely start over Eriksen going forward, given the Danish playmaker’s age and overall fitness issues usually a recurring problem.

Mason Mount’s time at Old Trafford is now – go and seize it

There is no better time to stake a claim than now for Mount. In a Ten Hag side where he’s still trying to figure out his starting XI, Mount has been lucky in the fact he still has every opportunity to break in.

His Manchester United career will only be just beginning in 2024. We sincerely hope he goes and smashes it.
