Kobbie Mainoo’s bold Man Utd declaration backs up his stance during difficult Amorim days

Kobbie Mainoo’s comeback will come to define the story of this season for Man Utd, and his latest bold declaration proves his consistent stance.

Nobody has been a bigger beneficiary of Michael Carrick’s arrival than Kobbie Mainoo, who had been completely ostracised by Ruben Amorim.

Carrick built the team around Mainoo, and the player repaid that trust with some immense performances, leading to a contract extension.

Upon signing the extension, Mainoo made a bold Man Utd declaration, which backs up his stance during his difficult days under Amorim.

We nearly lost him…!

Kobbie Mainoo’s bold Man Utd declaration

Not many people will know better than Mainoo how quickly things can change in football, as he has had a rollercoaster of a season.

Therefore, to make promises for the future in this game is a fool’s errand. However, that’s not to say the intention doesn’t matter.

After signing his extension, Mainoo made his intentions perfectly clear, saying that he is open to being a “one-club” man at Old Trafford, like Ryan Giggs, Paul Scholes, Gary Neville, and more.

He said [via GQ]: “I love this club, and I have done my whole life, so yeah, it’s definitely possible [to play for Man Utd my whole career].

Man Utd fans will look at Mainoo and hope for the same, but at the same time, they have been burned by Marcus Rashford, who lost the will to play for the club.

Having said that, Mainoo seems to be made of stronger stuff mentally, as evidenced by this stance staying intact even during his darkest days under Amorim.

Mainoo’s desire didn’t waver despite Ruben Amorim

In contrast to Rashford, who wanted out at the first sign of trouble at Old Trafford, Mainoo actually dug his heels in and came through it a better player.

Not that he's going anywhere…🔒

It is a remarkable stat that Mainoo had to wait for Carrick’s arrival to start his first Premier League game, because it would be so easy for him to throw his toys out of the pram.

However, instead of being passive-aggressive on social media, leaking things, or forcing an exit, he kept his footballing goals at the forefront of his thinking.

He wanted to leave only on loan despite Amorim ignoring him completely, which proves how devoted he always was to the club.

He backed himself to show up Amorim’s error in judgement by playing elsewhere, and in the summer, when he didn’t get that move, he still didn’t destabilise the dressing room.

Ultimately, he outlasted Amorim, which was the ideal scenario, and can now genuinely live out his dream of being a one-club man.
