Former England manager Glenn Hoddle perfectly identified the exact reason why Kobbie Mainoo has bounced back at Manchester United under Michael Carrick.
Kobbie Mainoo was called up for England last Friday after his magnificent run of form at Manchester United in the first 10 league matches under Michael Carrick.
The 20-year-old Stockport-born midfielder has started 10 consecutive Premier League matches and Mainoo has played the full 90 minutes in all but one fixture.

Without Manchester United legend Michael Carrick walking through the doors at Old Trafford again, Kobbie Mainoo’s Manchester United career could have collapsed.
The England midfielder’s time at Old Trafford was dangling by a thread at the Red Devils after former United manager Ruben Amorim stuck by his polarising system.
A three-man backline was already detrimental for Mainoo due to the two-man midfield pivot, but it became worse with Bruno Fernandes being forced into a deeper role.
Carrick rightfully tossed Amorim’s Man Utd tactics out of the window at Old Trafford after Ineos installed him as interim Red Devils boss until the end of the season.
Glenn Hoddle perfectly summed up the tactical tweak that “simplified” Man Utd’s entire approach under Carrick, including bringing Mainoo back into the picture.
“[Michael Carrick’s] doing a fantastic job,” he said ahead of Man Utd’s 2-1 win over 10-man Crystal Palace earlier this month.
“I think he’ll be the first to admit he’s got the right people around him, experience, people he’s worked with before as well that he can trust. Everything is looking really hunky-dory.
“He simplified it for me. Amorim was playing this back five; he was adamant he had to play it. Michael’s gone in and said no, back four, we’re going to play a shape that suits the players who are fit and able and want to play.”

Since Carrick flipped United back to using a back four under his tactics, the Red Devils have clicked in so many different ways under his interim managerial reign.
The plaudits have been quickly directed towards Bruno Fernandes — and rightfully so as well — after his sensational impact from the Man Utd No 10 role since January.
However, Mainoo has overcome the adversity of being starved of United first-team minutes before making himself an indispensable part of the Red Devils midfield.
“Mainoo has come back in form [from] nowhere, he was nearly sold, he’s now playing as we know he can play, he’s got the confidence,” Hoddle added, as per the Premier League’s official website.
“He’s playing players in positions in which they’re instantly comfortable.”
Carrick’s Man Utd tactical blueprint exposed the major flaws of the Red Devils under Amorim, all the while showing the ‘real’ Mainoo emerging in his midfield element.
