Manchester United sporting director Jason Wilcox seems to have interfered with Ruben Amorim’s tactical setup.
In his first year as Manchester United head coach, Ruben Amorim stuck by his 3-4-2-1 formation and showed a stubbornness to stick to his philosophy.
However, this season, Amorim has abandoned his approach and occasionally moved to a four-at-the-back system.

Which Man Utd player will be missed the MOST for the Premier League match against Leeds? 😭🤔
Reports have claimed that Amorim has a close relationship with Jason Wilcox and is in communication with the sporting director on a daily basis.
But it seems the lines between the head coach and the club hierarchy have become blurred.

Jason Wilcox has interfered with Ruben Amorim tactics
In Amorim’s press conference before facing Leeds United, the Red Devils boss appeared dejected and even refused to answer some comments.
Amorim hinted that Wilcox was involved in the formation change, calling a reporter “very smart” after suggesting that the change in system happened after talks with the hierarchy.
Are you happy with Ineos and Sir Jim Ratcliffe?
In the recent 1-1 draw with Wolves, Amorim reverted to his 3-4-2-1 shape and has been heavily criticised for getting his game plan wrong at Old Trafford.
Now, there are reports of United players questioning Amorim and his tactics ahead of the trip to face Leeds United in the Premier League.
Jason Wilcox has put his reputation on the line
Since the Ineos takeover, United have implemented a more structured footballing department, and Wilcox was chosen to succeed Dan Ashworth following his short-lived stint as sporting director at Old Trafford.
While Jason Wilcox and Amorim are expected to work closely in the current setup, interfering with tactics could easily lead to Amorim and his staff being undermined.
Amorim is already under huge pressure because of United’s results and performances this season, but the spotlight will quickly turn on Wilcox and the board if the Portuguese head coach has to be sacked.
Ratcliffe publicly backed Amorim earlier this season and Ineos are relying on his success to keep pressure from building on the new ownership.
