Jadon Sancho is officially a Borussia Dortmund player once again after a Manchester United loan move.
The Manchester United winger will join BVB on loan till at least the end of the season – with no option to buy.
United in Focus reported the confirmation of the deal, whilst also revealing the two-word message Dortmund posted on his return to Germany.
Now, United in Focus writers provide immediate reactions and predictions as to what the future holds for Jadon Sancho regarding Old Trafford.

Dan Coombs
Dan Coombs believes Sancho will have success at Dortmund – but ultimately doesn’t want him ever playing again at Old Trafford.
Will Jadon Sancho smash it at Borussia Dortmund?
Even if it takes him a little while to get up to speed, I expect him to do quite well. There could be the uncomfortable sight of Sancho playing Champions League football in the knockout rounds too, while United sit at home. German football suits him better, he struggled to get to grips with the Premier League.
Will Jadon Sancho come back to play for Manchester United or will he be sold?
As we learned this week, there’s the possibility Sancho’s loan might even get extended to 2025. That might make sense, to give him more time to recover his transfer value. I do not expect him to play for United again.
More so – do you actually want Jadon Sancho back at United?
No. Sancho has been a letdown and I don’t think United should invest any more time in him, and as mentioned, from what I’ve seen, I don’t think he can do it in the Premier League. In terms of character, he’s let his teammates down this season and the fans. It’s time to move on.

Kieran Smith
Kieran Smith is sceptical as to whether Sancho will find form in Germany and is clear as to whether he wants him back on the pitch at Old Trafford.
Will Jadon Sancho smash it at Borussia Dortmund?
I think Sancho will struggle back in the Bundesliga. He’s bang out of fitness, hasn’t been at his best since his departure and, most importantly, joins up with a struggling Dortmund side.
No doubt, he has a point to prove, which will work in his favour. However, a return to Germany won’t just magically turn him into a world-beater again.
Will Jadon Sancho come back to play for Manchester United or will he be sold?
It’s a tricky one. We need Sancho to go to Dortmund and smash it – then it’s a win-win. We either get him back playing at Old Trafford, or we sell him for a hefty fee.
I’ll probably say the latter, i think he’s laid his Manchester United bed – now he has to lie in it.
More so – do you actually want Jadon Sancho back at United?
Personally, no. He has shown his true colours this season and has disrespected the manager, the club, and most importantly – the fans. He does not deserve to put on the Manchester United shirt again.

Olly Dawes
Olly Dawes believes Sancho’s new coach will have an impact on him at Dortmund, but ultimately thinks there probably isn’t a path back in Manhcester even if he does perform.
Will Jadon Sancho smash it at Borussia Dortmund?
Jadon Sancho now finds himself as the 2024 version of Shinji Kagawa – a player who joined United from Borussia Dortmund with high hopes but now heads back to Germany trying to get his career back on track.
Sure, Sancho’s return to Dortmund comes in rather different circumstances to Kagawa’s but the disappointment is enormous.
Sancho just couldn’t get going under three different United managers and his spat with Erik ten Hag means he hasn’t even kicked a ball since August.
There is still plenty of time for Sancho to get back on track and Dortmund may be the ideal destination having previously excelled in the Bundesliga.
Sancho was exceptional before joining United and it may take those familiar surroundings to get Sancho firing again, especially under a coach he knows so well in Edin Terzic.
Will Jadon Sancho come back to play for Manchester United or will he be sold?
Even if Sancho does rediscover former glories, it’s difficult to see a way back for him at United.
Sancho wasn’t living up to expectations even before the row and will sadly go down as one of the most disappointing signings in United history when factoring in price tag and performances, so it’s probably best that this loan ultimately ends in a permanent exit.

Jonny Maze
Jonny Maze thinks Sancho will be a ‘completely different player at Dortmund’ but is uncertain about his future.
Will Jadon Sancho smash it at Borussia Dortmund?
I think that Jadon Sancho will look like a completely different player in Dortmund, with a point to prove. He will be keen to show that Erik ten Hag is in the wrong and that he still has it.
Will Jadon Sancho come back to play for Manchester United or will he be sold?
Following his loan I think so much will depend on whether Ten Hag has gone or not. With the Dutchman gone, Sancho could be reintroduced with Ineos already said to have refused the buy option. If Ten Hag is gone, it’s likely he is sold.
More so – do you actually want Jadon Sancho back at United?
It’s a tricky one and I think I’d back whatever the manager – whoever that is – decides at the time. I like Sancho but his behaviour is indefensible it’s hard to emphatically say no as well given we know how talented he is.

Danny Owen
Danny Owen believes Sancho will find form back at his old club, but isn’t a fan of a potential return.
Will Jadon Sancho smash it at Borussia Dortmund?
Don’t be surprised to see Sancho find some form back at Dortmund. He’s got one hell of a point to prove, after all, and returns to a club – and a coach in Eden Terzic – who appear to know how to get the very best out of him.
Will Jadon Sancho come back to play for Manchester United or will he be sold?
Whether he returns to United in the summer is likely to depend largely on what happens with Erik ten Hag. There isn’t enough room in this town for the two of them. But if Ten Hag is sacked – which isn’t beyond the realms of possibility – then there might just be a fresh start awaiting him.
More so – do you actually want Jadon Sancho back at United?
It says a lot about just how disappointing Sancho was that, of all the disastrous signings United have made post-Sir Alex Ferguson, he is arguably the worst of the lot. Arguably no one better epitomises the entitlement and the arrogance which has beset the club in recent years. His lack of effort on and off the pitch means that, as far as I’m concerned, he could tear the Bundesliga apart and I still wouldn’t welcome him back.

Shaun Webbley
Shaun Webbley has a ‘sneaky suspicion’ that Jadon Sancho will return after excelling back at BVB.
Will Jadon Sancho smash it at Borussia Dortmund?
I personally believe that Jadon Sancho will excel back at Borussia Dortmund. He’s under a manager who has gotten the best out of him before and is in an environment where he can thrive.
There is no question he was loved more in Germany than he was in Manchester and this will benefit the forward as he seemingly needs to be loved and trusted to excel.
Will Jadon Sancho come back to play for Manchester United or will he be sold?
Despite words to the contrary, I’ve got a sneaky suspicion that the winger will return to the club in the summer once Erik ten Hag has been replaced.
The Dutchman has suffered 14 defeats in all competitions this season by the 11th of January, which is more than the entirety of last season and managers have been dismissed for better records.
If Ten Hag does depart then I could see a pathway back for Sancho. How well the fans were to receive that decision remains to be seen but I believe ultimately that is the plan.
More so – do you actually want Jadon Sancho back at United?
For me personally, going against your manager publicly, no matter what should be questioned. Sancho is a superb player but for years now the power that these footballers wield at Old Trafford has been too much.
Allowing the 23-year-old to return and be given another chance, personally, does not sit right with me at all.
