Borussia Dortmund have completed the loan deal to sign Jadon Sancho from Manchester United and the winger has released an emphatic statement about his return.
Jadon Sancho’s two years of struggle at Manchester United look to be coming to an end with the English forward completing his loan move to Borussia Dortmund until the end of the season.
Speaking to the official Dortmund website, Sancho said: “When I came into the dressing room today, felt like ‘coming home’. I know the club inside and out, and I have always been very close with fans here and never lost contact with those in charge. Can’t, wait to see team-mates again and to play football with a smile on my face.”
The comment about playing football with a smile on his face may well be a not-so-subtle dig at those in power at Old Trafford.

Dortmund’s two-word message
As well as this, the German side posted on X a very short message as confirmation of the winger’s return to the club on a short-term deal.
“I’m back,” the Englishman said on the Dortmund social media account. Sancho has not played for the Red Devils since the 26th of August after falling out with manager Erik ten Hag and has been training away from the first team since September.
According to the BBC, the German giants will pay 3.5m euros (£3m), with up to an additional 4m euros (£3.4m) in add-ons which are subject to appearances, Champions League progress and qualification.
If the bonuses included in the deal are paid in full, this would cover Sancho’s wages for the entirety of his loan spell at the German side.
Sancho’s chance to shine
Despite all that has been said about the Englishman over the past few months, this move back to the Bundesliga is a huge chance for the 23-year-old to remind everyone what he can do.
Would there be any real surprise if he shines back at Dortmund under a manager in Edin Terzic, who certainly got the best out of him during Sancho’s original stint in Germany? There surely wouldn’t be.
He certainly wouldn’t be the first ex-United player to shine away from the spotlight and the pressure of Old Trafford, Anthony Elanga and James Garner can attest to this.
Time away from Old Trafford to revitalise his career is exactly what he needs and him excelling in Germany would allow the Red Devils to recoup some of the money they paid for the 23-year-old.
