Matheus Cunha’s eye-opening feelings on fellow Manchester United summer signing Bryan Mbeumo paint the full picture of a major Ineos success story so far.

Ineos and Sir Jim Ratcliffe have received their fair share of criticism at the Premier League club since assuming control of football operations at Old Trafford.

Whether it has been increased Manchester United ticket prices, staff layoffs or questionable appointments like Dan Ashworth, Ineos have not had it easy.

Despite the deserved criticism against Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s regime at Man Utd, not everything has been as bad as it might look at the Premier League club.

Ineos did deliver one of the Red Devils’ best windows in the post-Sir Alex Ferguson era last summer, even if the bar for reaching that standard was already low.

However, both Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo were two of the standout headliners from the 2025 summer window and their dynamic shows what went right.

Matheus Cunha’s verdict on Bryan Mbeumo shows how the two Man Utd summer signings’ relationship is continuing to evolve

Bryan Mbeumo has deeply impressed out of the five summer signings that Ineos brought through the doors of Old Trafford during Ruben Amorim’s ill-fated reign.

The 26-year-old ex-Brentford star has netted 10 times and registered two assists in 22 matches across all competitions for Man Utd in his debut season at Old Trafford.

Mbeumo has had a much stronger start to life at United compared with Brazilian Matheus Cunha, who is slowly coming into his element with the Red Devils.

Cunha has found the back of the net six times and picked up two assists in 25 matches across all competitions amid his growing influence for Man Utd.

Speaking to Premier League Productions, the 26-year-old former Wolves ace explained what he and Mbeumo are now bringing to the table at United.

“A lot of energy,” Cunha said, as per Manchester United’s official website.

“What a lovely guy. I’m around him every day; he’s someone [who] is fun. I always play against him and we talk about the games that we played in the past, Brentford against Wolves.

“But to be together now and help United is something that when we arrive here, we feel like, wow, we can be a small part of the success of the team. It’s something that is a challenge that is everything to us.”

Matheus Cunha’s ‘challenge’ claim involving Bryan Mbeumo proves where Ineos made the right Man Utd calls

Whether it was Ruben Amorim or it is now Michael Carrick, both Mbeumo and Cunha remain integral influences in the attacking set-up of the United first-team squad.

The £62.5m investment into Cunha and the £71m overall transfer package for Mbeumo look like a drop in the ocean for what Ineos has now delivered for Man Utd.

Mbeumo and Cunha have performed well together and the two United summer signings offer something different while complementing one another on the pitch.

Ineos has shown that last summer’s window brought through experienced – and proven – Premier League talents that United have sorely missed in recent seasons.

Cunha and Mbeumo are both long-term investments for Man Utd and Ineos can only further enhance the United squad amid their deeper integration into the team.
