This year has already seen three of the big six sack their manager, with Manchester United getting rid of Ruben Amorim last month, and now Tottenham have parted ways with Thomas Frank.
Both are now going to be shopping in the same market for a permanent appointment this summer, with Manchester United interim Michael Carrick in the running at Old Trafford.
However, United had been in a luxurious position compared to Spurs, with Carrick pushing United to the Champions League, which would make the club more attractive to top managers.
This created a real safety buffer for United, but Tottenham’s sacking of Frank has just seen Ineos lose their luxury.

Tottenham are considering Michael Carrick as new manager
This time last week, Ineos were in a fortuitous position where Carrick was shining for United, which took the pressure off finding a replacement.
However, Spurs are now a suitor for the current interim, and if United fail to make Carrick feel valued, then Ineos might be left chasing their tails in negotiations.
According to The Telegraph journalist Mike McGrath, Carrick has emerged as one of the names in line for the Tottenham job.
United’s current interim is alongside Roberto De Zerbi, Mauricio Pochettino, and Andoni Iraola as the top choices for the side currently battling relegation.
Carrick may have played himself into contention to be United’s next permanent manager; however, now Ineos doesn’t have the luxury of keeping him as the fall-back option in fear of Spurs taking him.
If Ineos don’t appoint Carrick and he goes on to be brilliant for Tottenham, then it would make United look clueless.

Manchester United might be forced to make Carrick decision
Tottenham will probably be looking for a permanent appointment immediately, but given their precarious situation, the more likely outcome would be an interim.
If this is the case, United need to quickly decide whether Carrick is the man or not, because if Spurs offer him massive backing and put faith into the Geordie, then he would be smart to accept.
United fans are keen on Carrick, but there will be a reluctance to repeat the Ole Gunnar Solskjaer appointment, despite it being a very different situation.
If Carrick gets Champions League football, United have to appoint him permanently because the replacement could be a disaster, while Carrick is already making inroads with the squad.
The decision just became a lot more difficult for Ineos.
