This summer Manchester United are operating in a very different way from what we have seen in previous summers, and it has been refreshing.
Ineos are conducting business with freedom and flexibility. Manchester United fans have been bewildered for years why this was not previously possible.

Manchester United’s multiple bids in for multiple players
During the Glazer era, Manchester United operated in the transfer market in a rigid, slow manner.
The club would lock in on a preferred target, spend three or four weeks trying to get the deal done, ultimately concluding the deal, or walking away.
During those three to four weeks, every other target, at every other position, was off the table.
Manchester United only seemed able to focus on one target at a time.
And while this sometimes did bring results, often it was painstaking and slow. There were times when multiple weeks were wasted – see the failed pursuit for Frenkie de Jong.
Under Ineos, we have begun to see a more multi-pronged approach.
In the past 48 hours alone we have seen reports of bids being submitted for Jarrad Branthwaite, for Manuel Ugarte, and for Leny Yoro.
And that’s with moves ongoing in the background for Matthijs de Ligt and Joshua Zirkzee.
It feels like the dominos could all quickly fit into place, and even if one or two deals is not possible, there will still be multiple players coming in.
Manchester United must become kings of the transfer market
In recent years, to put it bluntly, Manchester United have been a joke in the transfer market. The club have not moved quickly enough, and paid the wrong prices.
Ineos are already showing a willingness and maneuverability to switch from bidding to one target to another, and eventually, they will get the players they want to.
It will not be easy to rebuild Manchester United’s reputation in the market – but the right men are in place.
Dan Ashworth, Jason Wilcox and Christopher Vivell all have strong track records and have started work – and will be joined next week by new chief executive Omar Berrada.
