Alejandro Garnacho is less than 12 months on since his Manchester United playing days and the Argentina star’s spell at Chelsea has taken another turn for the worse.
The 21-year-old Spain-born winger has failed to make a meaningful impact in his first season at Stamford Bridge after his high-profile Old Trafford exit.
Alejandro Garnacho has netted only eight times in 43 matches across all competitions in the 2025-26 season, with only four assists to his name as well.
The Argentina international is left fighting for his future at Stamford Bridge after Chelsea splashed out a £40m transfer fee to Manchester United for him last August.

What are your thoughts on Alejandro Garnacho ahead of United facing Chelsea at Stamford Bridge?
Will he even get off the bench this time?
Man Utd’s £40m sale price for Alejandro Garnacho has put the Chelsea star in an even more difficult position
Manchester United benefited massively from the sale of Alejandro Garnacho under the Premier League’s Profitability and Sustainability Rules (PSR) in 2025.
It looked as though United could lose a hefty transfer fee after Garnacho’s falling out with Ruben Amorim in the tail end of the 2024-25 campaign at Old Trafford.
However, Chelsea put up the £40m asking price ahead of the 2025 summer window’s deadline day in September — and it has now come back to haunt them.
It remains uncertain whether Garnacho will be able to revive his prospects at Chelsea under newly appointed head coach Xabi Alonso for the 2026-27 Premier League campaign.
The Manchester Evening News reports that Chelsea are unwilling to sell the former Man Utd winger if they are unable to see other clubs meet the £40m price tag in the summer transfer window.
The Blues are not willing to be hit by the existing PSR rules and the sizeable price tag on Garnacho’s head will limit the European clubs coming for him this summer.

Man Utd will benefit from Alejandro Garnacho’s sale, but the routes out of Chelsea are closing around him fast
Garnacho has still found appeal from clubs in the transfer market, with the Argentina and Chelsea winger attracting interest from teams in the Serie A.
However, the £40m valuation is high enough to put Italian clubs off from making a move for Garnacho, who is under contract with Chelsea until 2032.
Garnacho’s ill-fated debut season has not done enough to make his value seem any more appealing after underperforming significantly in the final third for Chelsea.
While Chelsea would want to recoup as much of their fee as possible for Garnacho, another roadblock is the money they would lose to United in a further sale.
United included a 10 per cent sell-on clause in their transfer of Garnacho, meaning a £40m sell price for Chelsea right now would see the Red Devils pocket £4m extra.
Garnacho’s post-Old Trafford career could not look any bleaker and the £40m price tag that United benefited from is now the Chelsea winger’s Achilles’ heel.
