Five players Manchester United could sell next, after Mason Greenwood’s £26.7m exit

Manchester United have been a completely different animal this summer when it comes to sales, with several exits still on the cards.

For years, the sales heading out of Old Trafford were a huge let down with Manchester United seemingly incapable of negotiating reasonable fees for departing players.

However, under the new ownership and footballing structure in place by Ineos before this summer, the status quo has already been changed.

This has already seen a current total of £35.7m brought in for the departures of Mason Greenwood, Willy Kambwala, Alvaro Fernandez and Donny van de Veek – although the total could rise through bonuses and add-ons.

Greenwood brought in the bulk of this and after his £26.7m departure to Marseille, several players could be next on the exit list.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka

One player who looks destined to be sold this summer is Aaron Wan-Bissaka, as the once £50m right-back receives serious interest from Premier League sides.

West Ham are one side said to be keen on United’s No.29 and he’s been urged to make that move by Stuart Pearce. With Diogo Dalot a starter and Wan-Bissaka’s contract expiring next summer, selling makes the most sense for all parties.

Victor Lindelof

The centre-back department at Old Trafford is being rejuvenated this summer with Leny Yoro’s arrival being proof of this. However, this leaves Victor Lindelof without a real place in the team, being one of the biggest losers of the recruitment drive.

Lindelof plummeted down the pecking order last season, with injuries and poor form meaning he’s a top contender to be sold. Like Wan-Bissaka, there’s little reason to retain him beyond this summer.

Scott McTominay

The third name on the list is arguably the only one who we’d be against selling this summer, it’s Scott McTominay. The Scottish midfielder was key for the Red Devils last season and is a very valuable squad member.

That being said, interest is high in McTominay from Premier League rivals, and a sale would be huge considering he’s also homegrown. The sale would also fund a move for a new midfielder to fit into Erik ten Hag’s side.

Casemiro

Another midfielder likely on the list of potential exits is Casemiro, with the Brazilian representing the poor decisions previously made by the club in recruitment.

On a massive wage, United and Ineos will be desperate for interest to arrive from Saudi Arabia and Ngolo Kante’s exit from Al-Ittihad could see the door opened for Casemiro.

Facundo Pellistri

The final name on the list looks likely to be the next departure from United this summer, Facundo Pellistri. The Uruguayan wants to leave this summer, in search of regular minutes and a fresh start. Interest is high, with one manager even confirming interest.

It’s hardly a surprise that Pellistri could depart as he’s behind multiple players in the pecking order. Letting him go is best for all involved and whoever gets him is getting an excellent footballer.
