Manchester United have had some impressive loanees this season, and the list could grow even further in January.
This season it has been Harry Amass who is the shining light of the Manchester United loanees as he took the Championship by storm despite playing for the worst team in the division.
Amass has thrived at Sheffield Wednesday, being United’s biggest success story, even more so than Marcus Rashford or Rasmus Hojlund.
WHICH Manchester United loanee have you been most impressed by this season and why?🔥⚽️
Amass’ loan situation for the rest of the season is yet to be determined, and now he could be joined out on loan by others in January.
Here are five players we think need a temporary switch.

Diego Leon
When Diego Leon arrived at Manchester United last summer, he was expected to have a season of settling into life in Manchester.
However, Leon wanted to immediately be in United’s first team, something that has failed to transpire as he hasn’t appeared once despite impressive form for the U21 side.
In December, Leon’s agent admitted a loan was possible, and for his development and regular game time, the Paraguayan should be sent out for the remainder of the 2025/26 campaign.
Sekou Kone
Signed as one of the hottest young midfielders in world football, Sekou Kone has yet to make good on this potential at Old Trafford.
After impressing during the postseason tour of Asia, Kone was expected to have a big season; however, it was derailed by an orbital bone injury.
Due to this, Kone is expected to leave United on loan, and there will surely be no shortage of suitors, although Ineos may end up using the multi-club model to send him to Lausanne.
Jacob Devaney
Another midfielder, Jacob Devaney, has really impressed this season both for United and the Republic of Ireland U21 side, which should see him seeking a new challenge.
Devaney caught the eye against England U21, which featured the likes of Jobe Bellingham, and as a result, he needs to be loaned in order to develop.
It has been claimed that Devaney is being watched by Premier League clubs for a permanent move, and therefore, United need to give him opportunities to grow; otherwise, he will likely seek an exit.
Kobbie Mainoo
While the other names on this list are more on the academy based, but from the first-team, Kobbie Mainoo is a player who desperately needs a loan to a club where he will get regular minutes.
Mainoo has grown increasingly frustrated this season at United, being underused by Amorim and therefore his exit in January has become increasingly needed.
Manchester United are reluctant to grant Mainoo a loan, but this does not not mean that the midfielder needs it any less.
Push comes to shove: Would you rather have Kobbie Mainoo stay at Man Utd or Ruben Amorim?
Napoli are very keen on Mainoo, although it is thought United will wait until after AFCON to sanction any deal. But no matter what, United cannot subject Mainoo to another six months of this.
Gabriele Biancheri
Within the U21s right now, there are some players who are just beyond playing academy football, and among them is Gabriele Biancheri.
The Welsh wonderkid has been scoring for fun both last season and this campaign, too, with the logical next step being to see him head out on loan.
Biancheri already has loan suitors ahead of January, and wherever he goes, he will likely also score goals there. One thing is certain: he just needs more of a challenge.
