What Christopher Vivell is now doing to drive Man Utd interest in Felix Nmecha

Manchester United are being linked with a move to sign Germany international Felix Nmecha this summer, which isn’t the signing that fans will have been expecting.

The midfield market across Europe this summer is set to heat up now, as Manchester City close in on £130m Elliot Anderson.

The transfer fee is absolutely ludicrous and probably sees City overpaying by £50m for the Nottingham Forest midfielder. But this is bad for Manchester United.

Anderson’s sale will set the tone for West Ham to keep demanding £85m or for Bournemouth to set Alex Scott’s price closer to £100m. Both are devastating to United and probably mean that the £250m war chest originally set out no longer covers it.

But amid all the Premier League proven names is Felix Nmecha, who fans should be warming to.

What do you think of Man City spending £130 million on Elliot Anderson?

Will Anderson be a flop? Or will United regret not paying up?

Felix Nmecha to Manchester United latest

The summer transfer window was supposed to be a blockbuster for the midfield rebuild.

Ederson costing £34.5m is a solid deal, but not one which signals intent to challenge for the league title.

Fans have been expecting more, and Sky Germany linking Felix Nmecha is another name that won’t get some supporters out of their seats.

The German outlet claims that United are alongside Man City, Liverpool, and Real Madrid in their interest in signing the Borussia Dortmund ace.

United are ‘pushing ahead’, with head of recruitment Christopher Vivell in close contact with Nmecha’s entourage.

Nmecha, interestingly, spent his formative years in Wythenshawe, in the Greater Manchester area, where he and his brother, Leeds’ Lukas Nmecha, both played within the City academy.

This means a return to the North West of England wouldn’t be a tough move for him to settle down.

The only problem is that Nmecha would cost £86m this summer, although whether that price is accurate remains to be seen. Although his World Cup performances will only add to the value.

Should Man Utd walk away from the Mateus Fernandes deal if West Ham refuse to lower their asking price? 🤔

Nmecha has been magnificent in the World Cup

Many wouldn’t have seen Nmecha play when United were linked earlier this year, but he has shone in the World Cup for a pretty average Germany side.

Against Curacao and Cote d’Ivoire, Nmecha bossed the midfield with relative ease, or at least he made it look like that.

Winning duels, tackles, carrying the ball, and demonstrating excellent passing, both progressive and in keeping possession. Nmecha also showed real pace in midfield, able to cover so much ground with his ‘octopus’ legs, which can reach anything.

He wasn’t great in the defeat to Ecuador, making the error that led to one goal in the defeat.

But he has proven himself this summer to be a signing United should be very keen to make, even if he doesn’t catch the eye name-wise.
