Eric Cantona pulled no punches towards Ineos and Sir Jim Ratcliffe after standing firmly on a claim about iconic former Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson.

Sir Alex Ferguson brought the 59-year-old larger-than-life Frenchman to Old Trafford after the Red Devils signed him from rivals Leeds United for a Β£1m fee in 1992.

Eric Cantona wrote his name into the history books at the Premier League club and into the hearts of Manchester United fans thanks to his seminal impact in the 1990s.

The iconic former United No 7 was the talisman of Sir Alex Ferguson’s teams of the past and the eccentric Cantona thrived with the spotlight well and truly on him.

Who is Manchester United’s best manager since Sir Alex Ferguson?

During his remarkable spell at Old Trafford, Cantona lifted four Premier League titles and two FA Cups under legendary former United manager Ferguson before his exit.

What did Man Utd legend Eric Cantona say about Ineos and Sir Jim Ratcliffe?

Eric Cantona stunned the world with his sudden retirement from football in 1997, with the Manchester United legend only 30 years old when he made the huge call.

The former United superstar still holds a strong affinity with the Premier League club and their supporters, with Cantona even linked with a return during the Ineos reign.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe holds former France international Cantona in high regard, but the United legend did not hold back his true feelings on Ineos’ run at Old Trafford.

During a recent live show, Cantona slammed United co-owner Ratcliffe and Ineos for β€˜destroying’ the type of football that Sir Alex Ferguson had brought to the club.

β€œI have many other passions and projects, but I thought that for two or three years I could maybe put those to the side and try to give something to this club, which has given everything to me,” he said, as per The Daily Telegraph.

β€œBut he didn’t seem interested. I did what I had to do, so I don’t feel guilty anymore. I tried my best.

β€œSir Alex Ferguson created a style of beautiful attacking football, which the new owners should have used. Instead, they destroyed it.”

Ruben Amorim is rewriting the narrative at Man Utd – and Bryan Mbeumo is his key amid Eric Cantona’s remarks

If Cantona stepped back for a moment, there would be a clearer picture of the approach that Ineos and Ratcliffe are firmly committed to at the Red Devils.

Ratcliffe has openly backed Ruben Amorim amid a wave of criticism and Ineos have spent heavily in the summer as part of the foundation for the manager’s project.

United made the decision to move on from the Ferguson approach to football and the Red Devils are carving out a new identity under head coach Ruben Amorim.

Amorim has not been able to deliver consistent β€˜beautiful attacking football,’ but the Red Devils have shown moments that it can eventually emerge with time.

One only needs to look at Bryan Mbeumo’s stunning impact at United since his summer move to see that the signs are there for a new form of style at the club.

Amorim is the first to admit his project will see short-term pain, but all United fans – and even Cantona for that matter – need to do is hold out for the long-term rewards.
