Breaking down Victor Osimhen to Man Utd transfer rumours, analysing £130m move talks

Manchester United’s transfer window could take a huge swerve with Victor Osimhen if recent reports are to be believed, but separating the fact from fiction is necessary.

Currently locked in negotiations for Mateus Fernandes with West Ham, the midfield remains a priority position for Man Utd.

Even after securing two midfielders, a third might come in depending upon the sales, while the left wing also needs strengthening.

An experienced striker is on the agenda as well, which is why Victor Osimhen links make sense, but not entirely.

Breaking down Victor Osimhen to Man Utd

Osimhen is not a new target for Man Utd. In fact, he has become one of those players where the transfer market doesn’t feel real if he isn’t linked to the club.

The expectation was that the links would stop after his lucrative move to Galatasaray, but that has far from been the case.

Now that United have signed Benjamin Sesko, who had a good debut season, Osimhen’s signing for the reported fee of £130m, not to mention his hefty wages, makes no sense.

It speaks volumes that last summer, when United were in the market for a proper, long-term, marquee striker, they deemed Osimhen too expensive and moved on.

To go back in for him at a much higher price and with even bigger wages, having Sesko already on the roster, is unrealistic.

Would he be a good signing at Old Trafford? Probably, considering he has scored goals everywhere he’s been, and his playing style seems tailor-made for English football.

Were Man Utd interested in him at one point? Almost certainly. Any ambitious club would be interested in having a player like him in their ranks.

Are the recent transfer rumours of a move from Galatasaray realistic? Far from it. The finances, squad planning, age profile, and transfer plans don’t line up.

If even one of those factors lined up, an argument could be made that it might happen. As it stands, it is just a lot of noise in a window that always goes crazy when the name “Man Utd” is involved.
