Andoni Iraola’s comments following Bournemouth’s win over Manchester United has shown where the Red Devils are going wrong.
Dominic Solanke, Phillip Billing and Marcos Senesi were the goalscorers at Old Trafford in a thoroughly rampant display from Bournemouth as they recorded their first win over the Red Devils in the Premier League era.
The South Coast side were fully deserving of their victory at Old Trafford as Erik ten Hag struggled to impose his style and tactics in the game as Bournemouth harried them into submission.
United have now suffered 11 defeats in all competitions this season and teams are knowing how to expose their rather obvious weakness.

Iraola on United
Speaking in the afterglow of his side’s thoroughly deserved victory, Andoni Iraola, who has masterminded quite the turnaround for the Cherries, explained how he got the better of the Red Devils.
“They [Manchester United] send a lot of players forward so you will get spaces,” the Spaniard told the media after his side’s victory at Old Trafford.
“We knew they would make our wingers run backward, but we knew when we could recover high our forwards would have space. We knew in transitions we would have our chances and we took them.”
The fact that the opposition managers are speaking so openly about how to stop this United side should really get alarm bells ringing in the Dutchman’s mind.
United’s vulnerability
Even during the games that the Red Devils have won, the opposition has had countless chances to flip the script and cause problems of their own.
Chelsea, despite how sloppy they were at the back, still had countless chances going forward but either a mix of bad finishing and good goalkeeping from Andre Onana stopped them in their tracks.
However, teams are getting at United with ease as the Red Devils seem to have this bizarre idea of half the team pressing and others standing off.
Naturally, this leads to big gaps in the midfield for opposition teams to exploit and Bournemouth did that really well and were perhaps a tad unfortunate to not have a fourth or fifth goal.
With two tough games against Bayern Munich and Liverpool coming up, a new tactic is needed, otherwise, it could get ugly.
