Nemanja Vidic’s position on Michael Carrick’s reign as Manchester United interim head coach should be a massive reality check for outspoken pundit Paul Scholes.
Whether it is Lisandro Martinez or Michael Carrick, neither Paul Scholes nor Nicky Butt can help themselves with their criticism of Manchester United in recent weeks.
To be fair to Scholes and ‘Class of ‘92’ star Nicky Butt, they are not the only United legends to take sniper shots at Red Devils interim boss Carrick since January.
Roy Keane, a one-dimensional pundit, has ignited his own feud with Carrick in recent weeks, but Nemanja Vidic has now been a real breath of fresh air for United fans.

Jose Mourinho lost it with Paul Scholes during his time as Man Utd boss… was he right?
Nemanja Vidic’s Man Utd support for Michael Carrick shows everything wrong with Paul Scholes’ lazy remarks
Even before Nemanja Vidic spoke out about Michael Carrick, Patrice Evra has shown the same class as his former Manchester United teammate recently.
Patrice Evra came out and slammed Paul Scholes’ criticism of Carrick’s reign as Man Utd head coach, as well as taking aim at club legends Roy Keane and Gary Neville.
Armchair pundit Scholes took to social media after Man Utd’s 2-1 defeat to 10-man Newcastle and pulled no punches towards Carrick over the Red Devils’ form.
Ironically, the 51-year-old former Man Utd and England midfielder’s lazy criticism came after the Red Devils’ first loss in eight matches under interim boss Carrick.
Vidic, unlike Scholes and Co, talked up his quiet role on the sideline of supporting what former United teammate Carrick is trying to do at Old Trafford this season.
“Michael and the players have my support, and I hope they provide us with the Champions League football that United must have,” he said, as per The Athletic.
“Let Michael and his players try and reach it. Don’t put pressure [on] him as to what comes after. Let’s enjoy it for now.”
After a first defeat, how are you feeling about Michael Carrick for the Man Utd job permanently?
Nemanja Vidic’s Man Utd captaincy continues to shine long after his time at Old Trafford thanks to his Michael Carrick support
Different United legends, ranging from Scholes to Keane, have not done themselves any favours with Red Devils fans for their criticism of Carrick since his appointment.
While Carrick has turned the tide at Old Trafford after Ruben Amorim was sacked, Scholes and Keane have sat on the sidelines to parrot their usual lines.
Vidic has entered the conversation — similar to Patrice Evra — and has adopted the attitude that made him excel so much in his United playing spell back in the day.
Bruno Fernandes might have the Man Utd captain’s armband now, but Vidic’s mentality from his skipper days shines brightly with his support for Carrick.
