Manchester United were unable to find a winner against Burnley but there were plenty of positives to take from the performance.

Darren Fletcher must be wondering what more he could have done to help Manchester United earn three points at Turf Moor.

Despite Benjamin Sesko scoring twice to double his goal tally in the Premier League, United drew 2-2 with Burnley despite the hosts only taking one shot on target.

United put on a promising attacking display but conceded to Ayden Heaven’s own goal and a curling effort from Jaidon Anthony.

Sesko deserves his praise after an outstanding performance, but a deep dive into the display shows that Patrick Dorgu also played a pivotal role.

Patrick Dorgu was outstanding for Man Utd vs Burnley

Dorgu has been in great form for United in recent weeks, and he continued to impress against Burnley despite playing in a new position.

From the left wing, Dorgu added to his assist tally by finding Sesko for his second goal of the night.

As per SofaScore, Dorgu earned a 7.5 rating, and his match stats show just how dominant he was in every area.

Dorgu completed three accurate crosses, attempted three shots, won all three of his tackles and won 11 of his 18 contested duels.

The Denmark international also came incredibly close to scoring before his chipped effort was cleared off the line.

Patrick Dorgu has a future as a winger

In his final weeks in charge, Amorim had success playing Dorgu as a winger on the right flank of his 3-4-2-1 formation.

Because Bryan Mbeumo and Amad Diallo are away at AFCON, United have been short of attacking options, but Dorgu has stepped up.

Interestingly, Fletcher decided to swap the positioning of Dorgu and Matheus Cunha, with the former being played on the left wing.

Dorgu’s crossing ability makes him a threat out wide, and Sesko was heavily involved in the chances as a result.

Moving forward, Fletcher and whoever succeeds him have a big decision to make on where Dorgu’s future lies in this side.
