Ruben Amorim’s telling remarks about Amad Diallo after Manchester United’s last encounter with Nottingham Forest must be brought to the forefront ahead of Sunday’s clash.
Amad Diallo played a vital role for Ruben Amorim in Manchester United’s 2-2 draw against Nottingham Forest in the Premier League clash at City Ground in 2025.
Casemiro opened the scoring for the Red Devils in the first half in last November’s clash, but Forest stunned United early in the second half to take a 2-1 lead.
However, Amad came to United’s rescue in the Premier League match after the 23-year-old Ivorian winger netted a stunning volley from the edge of the area.

Ruben Amorim’s feelings about Amad Diallo’s role at Man Utd spoke volumes after the Nottingham Forest encounter
Fast-forward from the Nottingham Forest fixture in 2025 to this weekend and Manchester United will now welcome Vitor Pereira’s men to Old Trafford.
Amad Diallo had impressed under former United manager Ruben Amorim after his initial struggles to play consistently under Erik ten Hag in the starting XI.
The Ivory Coast international was flexible in Amorim’s contentious Man Utd tactical system, having played as both a No 10 and a wing-back for the Red Devils.
Speaking after Man Utd’s draw with Forest, Amorim predicted that Amad would continue improving at Old Trafford so long as the right support was offered.
“Amad has a lot of talent, he is growing up really fast,” he said, as per Manchester United’s official website in 2025.
“I think we have a lot of players that are young and talented, but we need to help [with] all the details. He is improving a lot; he can play in different positions. I think he can be so much better.
“More consistent in every detail, when he receives the ball, in build-up, when he is in the final third. You could see in the first half [that] he had some opportunities.
“In a lot of games, he has that opportunity coming inside and the shot is not there yet. We are working on that, so he has potential to do better.”

Amad Diallo must show Ruben Amorim was right to see all his potential by starting Man Utd’s next match vs Nottingham Forest
Amad’s form has been chequered at Man Utd since the Red Devils winger returned from international duty with the Ivory Coast at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
The ex-Atalanta man was in the starting XI for United’s last match against Sunderland at home and struggled to make an impact against his former side.
Amad was hooked off in the second half for Bryan Mbeumo and the Ivorian’s goalscoring and assist drought in the Premier League continues in 2026.
The former Sunderland and Rangers player has not found the back of the net for United since last December in the 4-4 draw against Bournemouth at Old Trafford.
Amad’s form has been hit hard in the second half of the 2025-26 campaign, but his role under Michael Carrick for Sunday’s clash will be a test of Amorim’s prediction.
If the winger is not in the Man Utd starting XI on Sunday, then it only shows Amorim was right that his development is still far off from where it should be in his Old Trafford playing spell.
