Ruben Amorim was not afraid to publicly challenge his Manchester United squad after losing to Everton.
While Ruben Amorim accepted blame for the 1-0 defeat to Everton at Old Trafford, the Manchester United boss didn’t let his players off the hook either.
In Jose Mourinho-esque fashion, Amorim criticised his wing-backs, saying: “I think they are far from the best, and they know it”.
Who was Manchester United’s MAN OF THE MATCH vs Crystal Palace?🤔🔥
To add to the criticism, Amorim said he feels ‘anxiety’ with Patrick Dorgu, while Dalot was criticised by Gary Neville for his positioning.
In the 2-1 win over Crystal Palace, Amorim started Diogo Dalot on the left, and his response is exactly what the United boss was looking for.

Diogo Dalot responded brilliantly to Ruben Amorim criticism
Dalot has not been able to shake criticism all season, with the 26-year-old often underperforming at left wing-back.
However, Amorim’s criticism seems to have had an effect as Dalot dropped a much-improved performance at Selhurst Park.
Was Diogo Dalot’s display vs Crystal Palace his best of the season?
Dalot managed 68 touches of the ball across his 90-minute display, and he was a threat going forwards as well as solid defensively.
He boasted an 80% success rate in duels, winning 12 of his 15. His heat map also shows that he spent much of the game in Palace’s half as an attacking outlet.
Dalot has been a consistent player under multiple managers, and his response shows exactly why he has been a survivor in a spell of constant change at the club.
Patrick Dorgu needs to follow in Diogo Dalot’s footsteps
Amorim’s criticism last week also applied to Patrick Dorgu and his performances off the left.
Frustratingly, Dorgu has been brilliant for Denmark in the international breaks, but he has been unable to bring that form back to Manchester.
Dorgu was signed under Amorim as a wing-back specialist, but he is struggling to adapt to the system and nail down a starting spot.
At just 21 years of age, Dorgu cannot be expected to be a finished article, but Amorim will need more from him in the coming weeks.
With Amad Diallo set to depart for AFCON this month, Dalot and Dorgu could soon be starting together on each flank.
