Recent reports suggest Manchester United are in a position to spend up to £250m in the summer transfer window, which is enough to stage a revolution.
The midfield is a clear area of priority, but beyond one marquee man, the other additions in that area will be for depth.
Upgrades can be had on multiple other positions, and if United’s financial situation is as rosy as it seems, then they will arrive.
Here’s how Man Utd’s dream XI could look after spending a £250m war chest on five new signings, of which three are starters, including a club-record signing.

Who is your ‘HEAR ME OUT’ signing for Man United to make this summer?👀
Hot takes only🔥
Goalkeeper: Senne Lammens
He’s Senne Lammens. Man Utd fans don’t need more justification as to why he’ll be in the first XI.
Right-back: Diogo Dalot
Fans might think the team needs to improve on Diogo Dalot, but Michael Carrick rates him, he’s committed to the club, and is a solid and reliable player.
Centre-backs: Matthijs de Ligt and Lisandro Martinez
Both were injury-prone this season, but on pure form, they remain United’s best. An injury-free season gives them a good base to build on. Otherwise, they’re getting sold next summer.
Left-back: Lewis Hall
Lewis Hall is a difficult deal to make, but by no means impossible if United’s transfer budget is supplemented by sales.
With Shaw’s contract expiring in 2027, Hall is the long-term successor. Spending north of £60m will be worth it.
Midfielders: Elliot Anderson and Kobbie Mainoo
Man Utd will break the club record to sign Elliot Anderson for north of £100m and the midfield will immediately become one of the league’s best with Kobbie Mainoo.
With Ederson and Mateus Fernandes arriving to add depth, that’s one of the best midfields in the world.
Should Manchester United pay £125m for Elliot Anderson?
Reports suggest Nottingham Forest have set a £125m valuation on Elliot Anderson. 💰
Right-winger: Bryan Mbeumo
Bryan Mbeumo will go back to his natural position, as the striker position will be taken up by a new arrival.
Left-winger: Matheus Cunha
Matheus Cunha emerged as United’s best attacker alongside Bruno Fernandes in the end-of-season run-in, and he deserves to have the club shelve plans to add a LW. Patrick Dorgu remains a squad option for both LB and LW.
Attacking Midfielder: Bruno Fernandes
Read Senne Lammens’ part. Replace “Senne Lammens” with “Bruno Fernandes”. Enough said.
Striker: Robert Lewandowski
There aren’t better “experienced” strikers on the market than Robert Lewandowski on a free transfer, who can still score goals at a high level in a functional team.
Benjamin Sesko will be a better player after working with him, and Lewandowski will fancy his chances of adding a Premier League title to his collection to leave European football on a high.
He can follow Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Edinson Cavani in becoming Old Trafford’s cult hero in his swansong days in elite football.
Summary:
Lewis Hall – £65m
Elliot Anderson – £110m
Ederson – £38m
Mateus Fernandes – £60m
Robert Lewandowski – Free
Total spent – Close to £275m.
Sell Marcus Rashford, Joshua Zirkzee, and Manuel Ugarte to bring net spend below £200m.
