Yaya Toure says he’s been so impressed by three players Manchester United want to sign

Yaya Toure has named four players in the Premier League who have impressed him so far this season, with three of them linked with a move to Manchester United in 2026.

Manchester United signed five players in the summer, but there are already suggestions that Ruben Amorim is identifying targets for the new year.

United failed in their pursuit to sign Carlos Baleba from Brighton last summer, but there have been several midfield targets identified since then, including Sporting CP’s Morten Hjulmand.

It remains an area that needs to be strengthened at Old Trafford, while Amorim settles on a midfield pivot of Bruno Fernandes and Casemiro with Kobbie Mainoo on the bench.

United will also have their eyes on targets in other positions, including wing-back and in attack.

Benjamin Sesko is the only recognised centre forward in the squad, and that should change in the next year, especially if Joshua Zirkzee is sold after falling down the pecking order.

Yaya Toure praises three Man Utd targets

Yaya Toure will be remembered as one of the best midfielders to play for Man City in the Premier League era, arriving at the club in 2010 from Barcelona.

The former Ivory Coast international spent eight years at the Etihad Stadium before having brief stints with Olympiacos and the Chinese club Qingdao Huanghai before turning to coaching.

Toure is currently an assistant coach for the Saudi Arabia national team.

However, Toure has now revealed four players who have impressed him in the Premier League this season, with three of them linked with a move to United.

The three players in question include Adam Wharton, Antoine Semenyo and Elliot Anderson.

Crystal Palace’s Wharton recently earned praise from Roy Keane and Rio Ferdinand once compared him to Michael Carrick.

Nottingham Forest midfielder Anderson is the latest Baleba alternative to emerge on United’s radar, while Semenyo’s release clause could prove tempting as one of the Premier League’s best attacking players.

Meanwhile, Semenyo could play three different positions if he joined United.

The fourth player named by Toure was Chelsea star Moises Caicedo.

Yaya Toure record against Man Utd

Toure played against United 18 times throughout his career.

Three of those games came during his time at Barcelona, including a 2-0 win over Sir Alex Ferguson’s side in the 2009 Champions League final.

He was victorious in eight of the 18 games, but six of them were defeats on top of four draws.

Toure’s best moment against United came when he scored the single goal that helped break City’s long trophy drought in the 2011 FA Cup semi-final.
