Manchester United striker Wout Weghorst has pledged to score ‘next time’ after another fruitless display in front of goal.
Weghorst had six attempts against Leicester City and did not get on the scoresheet. He has just one goal for the club.
The Dutch striker worked as hard as ever and did not give up, but it simply was not his day.
This is not the time for Weghorst to get despondent, and he knows it. A crucial week lies ahead with the clash against Barcelona followed by the Carabao Cup final.

Weghorst sends message
The on loan striker enjoyed playing a part in Manchester United’s 3-0 victory at Old Trafford, despite his lack of goals.

It is that last few words, ‘next is in’ where Weghorst vows to score next time he gets the chance.
Next up is Barcelona, and scoring a vital goal against them would turn him into an instant hero. He has just one goal in 10 games so far.
Weghorst’s work rate is not in doubt. He plays an important role in United’s pressing game, closing down opponents and creating space for teammates.
Erik ten Hag has even experimented by playing him in a deeper role. Weghorst wants to earn a permanent move to Old Trafford, and right now he is doing everything right, except scoring.
He is staying fit, which is half the job. Anthony Martial can’t get that part right, which has led to a prolonged spell for Weghorst in the starting line-up.
With no return date set for Martial, more opportunities await for Weghorst. And if he starts taking them, he might enjoy his afternoons at Old Trafford even more.
