Harry Amass is just one of several exciting young prospects coming through the ranks at Manchester United.

Sunday’s 4-1 defeat to Newcastle United was extremely disappointing for Ruben Amorim, but there was one shining light.

Harry Amass impressed on his first start in the Premier League, handling the intensity and physicality of the Premier League well.

The 18-year-old starred in United’s pre-season tour of the United States, but concerns over Amass’ physicality held him back from making the step to the first team.

However, Amorim put his faith in Harry Amass and his performance at St James’ Park suggests he is more than ready for regular minutes.

Harry Amass wows staff behind the scenes at Man United

After being deemed not physical enough in the summer, Amass has been bulking up this season and starring for United’s academy sides.

Academy director Nick Cox hailed Amass’ development in the academy this season, and now he is reaping the reward of his hard work.

According to the Daily Mail, Amass has been making an incredible impression behind the scenes at Carrington.

Their report claims that United insiders have been impressed by Amass’ “work ethic and his resilience”. One source added: “He’s worked his socks off in the gym,” proving that he has been working on his physicality.

“Maturity” is a word that was mentioned multiple times by insiders when discussing Amass. That will certainly be a key trait as he makes his way into Amorim’s first-team plans.

The three Man United stars who have mentored Harry Amass

“He caught a player that is really fast, he debuted in maybe one of the hardest stadiums with one team that is in a good moment.”

Amorim will be proud of Amass’ development at United, and so will a handful of first-team players who have reportedly been mentoring him during his breakthrough.

According to the Daily Mail report above, Diogo Dalot, Harry Maguire and Mason Mount have all grown close to Amass.
