Kobbie Mainoo has dissected the “intelligence” of Bruno Fernandes after his Manchester United teammate’s run of form under interim boss Michael Carrick.
Bruno Fernandes has been thriving in the Manchester United No 10 role since January after Michael Carrick’s stunning return to the Premier League club.
The 31-year-old Man Utd captain has chalked up a sensational 11 assists in Carrick’s 13 Premier League matches in charge in the 2025-26 campaign at Old Trafford.
Fernandes’ influence was curtailed earlier in the current Premier League season after Ruben Amorim had played him in a deep midfield role for the Red Devils.

Kobbie Mainoo is in awe at the ‘technical’ ability of Bruno Fernandes since Michael Carrick took charge at Man Utd
Bruno Fernandes is currently one Premier League assist away from equalling the record in a single season (at 20) held by Kevin De Bruyne and Thierry Henry.
The Red Devils skipper has made 33 appearances across all competitions in the current campaign and has netted eight times and registered 20 assists for his side.
Kobbie Mainoo, who has also enjoyed a resurgence in form under Michael Carrick, admitted that he is blown away by Fernandes’ ‘forward-thinking’ ability as a No 10.
“Yeah, he’s a joke,” he told Manchester United’s Inside Carrington podcast.
“The intelligence, anything he wants to do, like he sees he can do it with his feet as well, because he’s so technical and, you know, he sees a lot of things before they happen.
“And just play on the pitch with him, it helps you out a lot, because you just follow, you follow, you can follow his lead.”

Kobbie Mainoo on the creativity of Bruno Fernandes as a No 10 for Man Utd under Michael Carrick
Fernandes has four Premier League matches left with Man Utd this season to either equal or better the assist record of Kevin De Bruyne and Thierry Henry.
Mainoo admitted that Fernandes’ core abilities as a No 10 mean that he is the catalyst for the Red Devils to make an impact in the final third against other teams.
“And you know, something creative’s going to come from it, or a goal or an assist, you know, he’s going to give you one of them,” he continued.
“So yeah, it’s amazing to play with [him].”
United will return to Premier League action on Sunday afternoon and the Red Devils will host Liverpool at Old Trafford for a 3:30pm kick-off time in the UK.
