Where Manchester United rank all-time for teenage Premier League goalscorers

Manchester United’s recent victory over West Ham United has led to another record being broken for the Red Devils.

Two goals from Alejandro Garnacho and a fine finish from Rasmus Hojlund got Manchester United the 3-0 victory over David Moyes’ West Ham United at Old Trafford.

One of the few positives of a rather poor campaign for United and Erik ten Hag has been the academy players that have broken through into the first team or are on the verge of making that breakthrough as they impress in the academy team.

Kobbie Mainoo, Willy Kambwala, Dan Gore and Omari Forson are just some of the academy players who have broken through this season.

United’s academy sensation

According to Opta, the statistics website, the Red Devils have the highest amount of teenage goalscorers in their setup with United netting 104 goals.

The Red Devils are three goals ahead of Liverpool with United netting the most goals through teenagers since the Premier League’s inception in 1992.

Robbie Fowler and Michael Owen lead this tally in terms of individual goalscorers in their teenage years in the Premier League which makes United’s record of 104 even more impressive.

Federico Macheda is the youngest goalscorer for United, as he was 17 years and 227 days old when he curled in that beautiful goal against Aston Villa to fire United back into the title race in 2009.

Marcus Rashford, Anthony Martial, Mason Greenwood, Anthony Elanga, Mainoo and Garnacho are among the teenage goalscorers for the Red Devils and this is only set to increase as more academy players are introduced to the first team.

United’s proud academy tradition

One of the more positive aspects of the club this season has been its youth focus and this is only set to continue with the raft of talented teenagers they have at the club.

Shea Lacey, Tyler Fletcher, Jack Fitzgerald and Amir Ibragimov are a selection of the academy players who the club are reportedly excited about.

If Ten Hag is at the helm next summer, expect some of these academy players to be given their first-team chance.
