Manchester United have agreed a deal to sign Andrey Santos from Chelsea this summer.
After a quiet month in the transfer market, Manchester United have finally agreed on a second signing of the summer, with Brazilian international Andrey Santos set to arrive.
United have agreed to pay £48m for Santos this summer, rising to £50m with add-ons, while Chelsea have also got a 10% sell on clause included in the deal.
Santos will now undergo a medical, probably in the next few days. It is United’s second midfield addition of the summer. Here is where Santos ranks in comparison to all-time most expensive midfield signings.

Who do you want Man Utd to sign NEXT?
Andrey Santos at £48m ranks as one of Manchester United’s most expensive signings ever
At £48m, Santos represents a signing that could end up looking like excellent value in hindsight. Christopher Vivell will be behind the move, having signed Santos at Chelsea, and so clearly, he highly regards the Brazilian.
It could be a brilliant signing, and in the all-time midfield signings for United, his fee ranks quite modestly.
- Paul Pogba: £89m
- Casemiro: £60m
- Mason Mount: £55m
- Bruno Fernandes: £55m
- Andrey Santos: £48m
- Fred: £47m
- Manuel Ugarte: £42m
Santos at £48m puts him far from the most expensive deals, but it will cost enough that he will be expected to perform.

How much have Manchester United spent this summer?
At 22, Santos’ best is yet to come, and he could be a huge coup for United if he develops as many think he will.
£48m for Santos is added to the Ederson deal that United have already agreed on.
Ederson will cost £34.5m, which means United’s midfield rebuild has so far cost £82.5m. This being less than what Spurs spent on Mateus Fernandes, and therefore, we can assume that Ineos have another addition in mind.
Aurelien Tchouameni, potentially, with indications in Spain being that he could be next.
