Manchester United went up against former player Shola Shoretire in the Europa League clash with PAOK.
Shola Shoretire was hoping for a chance to prove Manchester United wrong not to give him more of a playing chance.
In the end, the match came too soon for Shoretire, who only has one start for PAOK under his belt.
Shoretire came off the bench for the final few minutes at Old Trafford, by which time Manchester United had already essentially wrapped up a 2-0 win.

Manchester United reunited with Shola Shoretire
Shola Shoretire took a gamble by choosing PAOK, feeling he had to leave to go and get playing time.
And while he is feeling his way in, with one goal for the Greek side to date, he is better off, playing first team football, rather than stuck in Manchester United’s under-21s.
Shoretire’s exit was discussed on MUTV, with former academy player Phil Bardsley sympathising with the youngster’s recent dilemma.
He said: “Credit “to the boy, obviously took himself away to a different country, and like we spoke about before, he’s never easy going going away and playing somewhere else.
“When you’ve been at our club for so long, it’s never easy to leave. But you know, he’s gone away, he obviously looks like he’s enjoying his football.”
Bardsley added that the way Manchester United’s players sought out Shoretire at full-time spoke volumes.
“And I think you can see there, you see the players around him, the United players at the end, just shows how much respect they’ve got, they had for him, and how much they enjoyed him while he was there.”
Shoretire tackles Casemiro
Shola Shoretire’s biggest moment in the final few minutes was a late tackle on former United teammate Casemiro.
It was an uncharacteristic foul, yet symptomatic of a player coming into the game late who was just a little over-eager to impress.]
Bardsley added: “I’m sure he’ll be apologising to Casemiro at the end there, because of the slightly late tackle right at the end. I mean, that’s, that’s not Shola at all. He’s not like that any way whatsoever.
“It happens, doesn’t it?”.
Shoretire is one of Manchester United’s youngest ever players, making his debut in the Europa League in 2021. But first team chances never came on a regular basis, with Erik ten Hag failing to give him a single minute.
