Manchester United meet Newcastle on Boxing Day at Old Trafford, where Ruben Amorim will be hoping for some Christmas magic.
Boxing Day has traditionally been a day when Manchester United get good results, but 2024 was one to forget.
United were beaten 2-0 by Wolves with Matheus Cunha starring, and this year sees the Red Devils once again playing on the day after Christmas.
Will Manchester United win vs Newcastle on Boxing Day? What is your prediction?
Why is our recent record vs Newcastle so bad?
It will be Newcastle who United face, on Friday with a host of injury issues to contend with.
However, Amorim can draw inspiration from the last time Newcastle came to Old Trafford on Boxing Day.

When did Manchester United last face Newcastle on Boxing Day
Manchester United vs Newcastle is always a fixture which is played around Christmas, and frequently falls at this time of year.
Specifically, in 2019, United beat Newcastle on Boxing Day under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
United went behind in the game, however, Anthony Martial pulled the Red Devils level before Mason Greenwood scored the go ahead goal with a thunderous strike.
Marcus Rashford then scored United’s third as Solskjaer’s side completely washed Newcastle away with attacking football.
This was all before half-time, then after the break Martial got his second of the game to secure the three points.
Since this big win six years ago, United have won five games against Newcastle, and Amorim really needs this to be a sixth.
Manchester United will have to beat Newcastle with massively weakened team
Unlike in the 4-1 win from 2019, United won’t have a first-choice team to select from.
Solskjaer’s side was at full strength to beat Newcastle but Amorim is without arguably his two most influential players in Bruno Fernandes and Bryan Mbeumo.
Manchester United’s record without Bruno Fernandes is not great…
What is your biggest fear about Bruno being out of action?
United are also without Amad, Kobbie Mainoo, Noussair Mazraoui, Harry Maguire and Matthijs de Ligt.
Winning would be a minor miracle for United given the injury list and that Newcastle are looking better and better every week.
