Manchester United’s players have responded superbly to Ruud van Nistelrooy during his spell in charge.

Ruud van Nistelrooy signed off as Manchester United interim manager with an unbeaten record through his four matches in charge.

The final match was similar to his first, a victory at home to Leicester City by a three-goal margin.

Most importantly, the mood among the Manchester United players has swung; this is a confident team all of a sudden, who are scoring goals, and excited for the arrival of new head coach Ruben Amorim.

Manchester United stars show respect

There were emotional scenes at full-time as Ruud van Nistelrooy walked around the pitch to pay his respects to the Manchester United fans in attendance.

United’s players also made their admiration for Van Nistelrooy clear, who was part of the coaching staff before stepping into the dugout as the main man, temporarily.

Former academy prospect Danny Webber told MUTV: “He’s connected everybody’s you know, his love for the players there, you can see him speaking with Martinez at the end, putting his arms around everybody.

“It’s a genuine connection, and I respect it. You know, he’s he’s done really, really well in his interim period, and I’m glad for him.”

Casemiro incident picked out

Webber also picked out the way Casemiro embraced Van Nistelrooy when he was substituted in the 71st minute of the fixture at Old Trafford.

He said: “It’s probably helped, especially the fact that he’s worked one on one with plenty of these players.

“When Casemiro come off, Casemiro could not let go of Ruud, giving him that hug to say thank you.

“It means a lot, and says a lot about Ruud van Nistelrooy’s character that he can in the space of 10 days, really just get that respect straight away.”

Casemiro is one of the most experienced players in the Manchester United dressing room, one who can still play a big role between now and the end of the season.

He has been vastly improved under Van Nistelrooy, and he was likely thanking the interim boss for helping him get back to good form.
