‘What a player’… MUTV pundits rave about ‘sensational’ Manchester United wonderkid’s performance

Manchester United would have felt aggrieved not to come away with three points against Wolves after a dominant performance.

Yet, this game was a real warning for the team: “Take your chances”.

Just like against Newport, Manchester United went into a 2-0 lead and then wasted chances instead of making it three or four. And Wolves eventually drew level.

Fortunately Manchester United had a Joker in the pack, with Kobbie Mainoo popping up to score a dazzling winner in injury time.

Reaction to Kobbie Mainoo winner

Kobbie Mainoo’s dramatic winner had fans around the world off their seat, and dampened the monotony of a boring transfer deadline day.

Mainoo was praised by Match Of The Day host Gary Lineker, while Bruno Fernandes was quick to claim foresight for knowing how brilliant Mainoo was going to be.

The young midfielder’s goal caused quite a stir in the MUTV studio too, with former stars lining up to praise his match winning contribution.

Former defender David May commented: “Man of the match. Wow, what a player he is, absolutely sensational. That lad has got the world at his feet.”

Ex-striker Danny Webber said: “When he picks it up, he doesn’t have a right to score from there.

“A moment of magic. He’s got a lot of work to do. That’s somebody playing with freedom, it comes naturally to him.”

Wes Brown, another ex-Red, also had positive words about Mainoo’s winner. He said: “He knows what he’s going to do. He’s thinking about one thing, bottom corner. The shape he does is perfect.”

Manchester United fans will watch it again and again

Kobbie Mainoo is a player who will go onto hopefully score dozens of goals for Manchester United. Some might even be better than last night’s.

But this one will be remembered for a long time. It was his first Premier League goal, and it meant something.

It won the game, and also saved United fans from angrily having to dissect drawing a match we should have won, looking back on refereeing errors, defensive mistakes and missed chances.

Instead, we can dismiss all that, and just enjoy the moment, basking in Mainoo’s sheer brilliance.
