Wes Brown and John O’Shea could not see eye to eye on the Manchester United player who will scoop the Man of the Match award against Bodo/Glimt on Thursday evening.

Manchester United will return to Europa League action and will host Norwegian side Bodo/Glimt at Old Trafford, with kick-off slated for 8pm UK time.

The Red Devils have won only one of their opening four Europa League matches in the 2024-25 campaign, with United currently 15th in the league table.

Erik ten Hag secured three consecutive Europa League draws with the Red Devils before the Dutchman was axed as United manager in late October.

Ruud van Nistelrooy took over as interim manager after Erik ten Hag’s sacking and secured United’s first win in Europe against Greek side PAOK earlier this month.

O’Shea and Brown back two Man Utd players

Manchester United’s Europa League clash against Bodo/Glimt will be Ruben Amorim’s first match in charge of the Red Devils at Old Trafford.

Ruben Amorim arrived at United during the November international break and the former Sporting CP manager succeeded Erik ten Hag in the Old Trafford hot seat.

The 39-year-old Portuguese manager led the Red Devils for his first match on Sunday and United picked up a 1-1 draw against Ipswich Town at Portman Road.

Speaking to Manchester United’s official website, Wes Brown and John O’Shea dropped their predictions for the Bodo/Glimt clash on Thursday evening.

Brown has backed the Red Devils to win 2-0 on the night and the former England defender believes that Amad Diallo will scoop the Man of the Match award.

O’Shea, much like Brown, expects United to pick up the win in the Europa League tie and has tipped Amorim’s men to secure a 3-1 win at Old Trafford.

But the 43-year-old ex-United defender has predicted that Kobbie Mainoo, who has been sidelined in recent weeks due to injury, will win the Man of the Match award.

Amorim hints at Man Utd change

Speaking ahead of the Bodo/Glimt tie, Amorim admitted that the Red Devils could rotate and the United manager is “focused” on seeing the full extent of his squad.

“I am not thinking about that; I am just focusing on winning our first game in Old Trafford,” he said at Wednesday’s pre-match press conference.

“If you win, it is a big help. I know the players and the way the team [Bodo/Glimt] plays.

“I am focused on seeing things in my squad.”
