Wayne Rooney has now told the Glazers and Ineos chief Sir Jim Ratcliffe what they must absolutely do after Manchester United’s latest setback against Brentford.
The Red Devils are 14th in the Premier League table and Manchester United have already lost three of their opening six league matches in the 2025-26 season.
Ruben Amorim is already facing mounting speculation over his future as Manchester United manager at Old Trafford after a disappointing start to the new campaign.
United have been unable to string back-to-back Premier League wins under Ruben Amorim since the 40-year-old Red Devils boss succeeded Erik ten Hag at the club.
The Red Devils’ woes extended to their Premier League outing on Saturday afternoon, with Brentford defeating United 3-1 at the Gtech Community Stadium.

England icon Wayne Rooney couldn’t be clearer with what the Glazers or Sir Jim Ratcliffe need to do at Man Utd
Manchester United were outclassed against Brentford in the opening 20 minutes on the weekend after forward Igor Thiago scored a superb brace for the Bees.
Benjamin Sesko found the back of the net in the first half on Saturday, but Brentford ensured their win in the second half after Mathias Jensen’s superb injury-time effort.
United could have been level against Brentford in the second half after receiving a penalty, but Bruno Fernandes saw his spot-kick attempt saved by Caoimhin Kelleher.
Speaking after Brentford’s 3-1 win on Saturday, Wayne Rooney insisted that either the Glazers or Sir Jim Ratcliffe needs to send a “clear message” about the club.
“There needs to be a clear message from the owners,” he said on The Wayne Rooney Show, as per BBC Sport.
“Whether that is the Glazers, [minority owner] Sir Jim Ratcliffe, there has to be a message of where this club is going. At the minute, we are all sitting there waiting for it to crumble.
“The culture of that football club has gone. I see it on a daily basis. I see staff losing jobs, people walking out of jobs.”
Wayne Rooney uses his two sons, Klay and Kai, to send a powerful message to Man Utd after the Brentford result
Ratcliffe saw Ineos back Ruben Amorim in the summer transfer window with a flurry of new signings, including the likes of Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha.
However, the Red Devils have failed to ‘click’ under United manager Amorim so far in the 2025-26 season, despite the arrival of new talent and the sale of other players.
Rooney said that his two sons – Kai and Klay – are in the United youth academy and he is nervous about their futures at the club amid what he has to say on the Red Devils.
“I’ve got two kids [in the academy] at that football club and I really hope this doesn’t affect what they’re doing,” he added.
“What I’m seeing at that football club is not Manchester United.”
United will host Sunderland at Old Trafford on Saturday afternoon for their final Premier League match ahead of the October international break.
